Samoa is showing what they can do to a team weak on defence. Up 24-0 in the first half against Argentina. Against Blitzbokke they were dominant but could only score 1 try and let through a few.

Fiji only had weaker opponents in their pool, Japan, Russia & Spain, and beat all of them easily.

Why did it take the ref so long to call "maul"? Because the Canadians refused to join? It seems ridiculous that they had to carry the player off the field.

Exactly. Needs another attacker to join: It consists of a ball-carrier and at least one player from each team, bound together and on their feet.
