I'll take gold in both the only events that matter over 200 meaningless medals in the pool...

Yup it will grind on the Aussie’s to lose both the netball (especially) and the women’s 7’s

The netball supporting public. Or netball in general

Netball have some huge decisions to make, long gone are the days of Netball being the main path of girls aspiring to represent NZ, more so with the success of our womens rugby and also this games, the Hockey, without going into the individual stuff too

And cricket as well with NZ women playing in the Aussie women's T20 league and having another genuine pro sport option.

That's an awesome outcome IMO.
Three gold medals, a silver and two bronzes.
Realistically, we should have expected two silvers, five bronzes.
-
@act-crusader Why not Women's Hockey? I would have penciled them in slightly behind Women's Sevens as a good Silver chance and near definite bronze.

That's #metoo

@chris-b ordinarily I would expect us to do well but after OZ beat us in the Oceania Cup last year I had this feeling we would crash out in the pool stages being pooled with OZ and being done by another side in an upset.
Awesome result in the end and a most emphatic gold medal performance.
-
@act-crusader You'll be even more rapt than me!
I had a sort of hunch that they'd do OK - was pretty pessimistic they'd win that final though. A real statement. They dominated most of it.

Soccer too, with plenty of chances for scholarships overseas. Woman's sport has come a long way, young girls have genuine options to persue now which is great to see.
Netball's future in NZ doesn't look that rosy in terms of being a superpower on the world stage. Our tiny population and the rise of other sports is really reducing their share of the market. The amatuer jobs for mates culture etc has to go and pronto or they won't compete.

Black Sticks women's captain Stacey Michelsen will be the flagbearer for the closing ceremony.
Up the Taniwha!!!

Depsite my cynical comments at the start of the games, and ignoring the shortcomings of TVNZ, these games have been lots of fun. Being more in our timezone helps, but I've enjoyed it far more than previous games - long live the CGs
