@booboo Exactly!
How did the countbacks work is the question that needs answering.
Meanwhile flicked over to watch Malaita and Clarke fighting a heavyweight contest - good mates apparently, but taking no prisoners. A "willing" contest. Surprised someone's head didn't get taken off. Didn't see the decision, but I'm sure the pom won.

The commentators need to be all over things like that. They should be explaining exactly what is going on.
Let's face it, most of us will only watch the pole vault every 2 years (Olympics and Commonwealth games). We can't be expected to know the rules and intricacies of the tactics.

The TVNZ coverage has been awful. Between Toni Street, and some of the studio 'experts' who have added no insight whatsoever, and the piece de cams for no reason and the random ad breaks...UGH.
Don't just have a commentator. Have someone who actually knows what the fuck is going on.

On the shot put. That is some effort from Valerie Adams to get up to speed again so soon after having a baby to get silver at the CGs. Don't underestimate how tough it is with a newborn baby as well - she said her MIL took the night shift for the last 6 weeks to allow her to train. What a legend.
And she had a C section as well! In a sport like that where core/abdominal strength and flexibility is key the damage that'd do in terms of scarring it massive. 18.70m was her post-baby PB so a really good effort to get silver.

@raznomore Black Cocks really took out the prize though.

So, of the teams - in order of likelihood of winning gold...
Women's Black Sticks (especially because they're already in the gold medal match)
Women's Sevens
.
.
Men's Black Sticks
.
Men's Sevens
.
.
.
.
.
.
Silver FernsBit optimistic on the silverferns.

Should have the Tall Blacks in there as well. They beat Canada pretty comfortably in the round robin, but they're probably less likely than the men's hockey team of tipping over the Aussies.
Surely those yellow fucks won't sweep us 6-0???!!!
I should take a multi for insurance!!!

Watching the Women's road race - it's super relaxing because the commentators have already confirmed the result - the Great Australians are the strongest and fastest and bestest.
Apparently there's a small element of doubt whether they can make it 1,2,3. Someone else from the Commonwealth might not be totally useless.
Someone needs to kick that chirpy woman's arse!
