Southee already up to 29. Matching his test debut would be bloody handy right now.

Southee will go into tomorrow on 13 not out.

I'm expecting either of the following posts from Southee haters.....

If he goes early and cheaply he's 'irresponsible'

If he swings and racks up a big score it's a 'fluke'

    I'm expecting a third option:

He bats sensibly sees BJ through to a hundy and NZ through to a first innings lead leading to those who always thought he under achieved with the bat given his performances to say:

    Gee what a mature innings.

You're obviously a hater who doesn't rate his ability with the bat if his options are failure or slogging.

You're missing my point completely booboo. I rate him as a bowler who can bust out a pretty good innings every now and again but who is very unfairly maligned for something that he isn't in the team for.

    I get your point.

I think you miss the point that he could be awesome at another discipline he is obliged to perform in some way.

Do you think he doesn't try to field as well as he can? After all he isn't picked for his fielding.

I'm a fanboi. But he can easily be better at batting than he's been. Or should be bat permanently at 11 and be laughed at like Chris Martin?

I truly hope people have higher expectations if him than you ... and he delivers

You really think he's gonna get better at batting at this stage of his career.

Also, who is picked for their fielding?

    Why shouldn't he?

Because he's a bowler who bats as opposed to a batsman?

    What you said.

And so far so good this morning

Sodhi should really be ahead of Southee.

Based on ? Still too early in his career to make that claim conclusively I reckon....

40 runs from 10 and 11 is mighty handy. Shame about the top 5...

Considering we were 36/5, making it to 278 was bloody great. Kudos to Watling, de Grandhomme, Southee, Wagner, and Boult for being a giant wagging tail. (I mean FFS, Boult scored more runs than Raval, Latham, Taylor, and Nicholls combined.)

England's lead was 30-odd to start with, here's hoping our bowlers turn up the heat early on.

Aside from a double hundy in the Ashes he has done absolutely nothing for as long as I remember.....

England now with a 100 run lead with the loss of 1 wicket.. looking like a draw is the best we can hope for

Not a good look that session, almost as bad as Izzy’s rug during the Dilmah Tea Party.

    Advanced hair, yeah yeah? Photos?

Always intrigued by what people will glue to their heads.

I thought it was a highly engineered, complex comb forward. Doubt it will hold together during a rugby game

I saw an ad with Shane Warne and Mark Nicholas saying how important it was for balding men to go to Advanced Hair, which was all the convincing I needed to never go anywhere near that company and instead just fully embrace hair loss later in life.
