NFL 2017

@kiwimurph He could ruin his future head coaching chances if he bombs again here.
Taking the Colts job is a big risk for him, because the Colts have such a bad roster and Luck has still not recovered from his shoulder injury, which he got surgery for over a year ago.

Man I really enjoyed that game. I watch about 1 game of NFL a year and that was brilliant from start to finish. I'm more of a baseball fan than a football fan really, but I might have a bit more of a look at the NFL next year if that is what it can deliver. Right to the last play I still thought NE could force extra time.
Am I right in thinking that game was an example of a "tackling optional" type of game? Purists in the States might be calling it 'basketball NFL' and lamenting the poor standard etc??
That was a good game for a neutral. The Pats lost and it was a shootout.
Tackling and covering was a bit optional in the game, but at the same time, the Patriots and Eagles both have elite offenses, so defending them is quite hard for most teams.
If you want to watch more games next season, I suggest watching teams with good offenses just to get more into it. Teams like the Eagles, Rams, Steelers, Packers, Chiefs, Saint and maybe Patriots(just to see if they lose) would be a good start.
-
@dice and hopefully the 49ers! Has Jimmy G signed yet?
49ers will seriously have one of the better offenses next season. I expect them to have a Rams-like rise on offense next season.
I don't think Jimmy G has signed, but they look close to getting a long term deal signed. Even if they don't, he'll still be with the 49ers next season as they'll just franchise tag him.

This is true but they also have the number 3 overall pick in this draft so if they have real concerns over Luck they could start over again with a young QB.
As far as opportunities go for a second crack at head coach it's pretty decent.

If Andrew Luck gets back to his best it will make his job easier. That and the new GM doing a decent job of building a team. They could start with a decent O line

Now the big talking point is what happens to this NE Patriots. Was this their Lakers V Pistons 2004 where it all finally falls apart? Malcolm Butler is definitely leaving for free agency, he seems pissed at being benched and all the talkback is now suggesting that McDaniels is going reject the head coaching role at the Colts because the Pats might need one soon.
I don't buy it. The more recent reports are stating McDaniels to Colts is happening.
I apologise @Sneakdefreak
After being announced as head coach McDaniels has now rejected the Colts.
Bill B must be on the way out shortly?

It's obvious he's the heir to the throne. Colts will be pissed....

May not mean next year but it must be soon. Indy might have been a better situation, young star QB (assuming he is OK), potential to build around him. With Jimmy G gone when Brady and Beli leave NE might crater

If New England start poorly next season I'll be very interested to see how Brady reacts. Playing to 45 in an elite team that's winning consistently is one thing, but fumbling the superbowl and then struggling to compete when he's old and grey might not be so easy.

He's had an armchair ride and the current rules protect him from a lot of the big hits. If his O line can't protect him and he takes too many sacks it might accelerate the process. The decline can come fast but he was still pretty awesome in a losing SB effort, if he can maintain similar output he's going nowhere

Sounds like it was a last minute reversal, as he'd been talking to assistants and making hires at the Colts. If he doesn't succeed at the Pats he'll be out of the league after pulling a stunt like that. Supposedly Kraft personally intervened to keep him because he wanted revenge for deflategate.

Watching the NFL parade right now, I'm actually glad Philly won. It really seems to mean something to them. As a neutral, this stuff is pretty cool.
Just watched ESPN 30 for 30 episode Bill and Bill about Parcells and Belichick. Outstanding
Yep, I saw that yesterday too, very insightful. If you want more there's some stuff on the ESPN 30 for 30 podcast.
30for30+ "The Two Bills": 2/1/18
While you're there, check out Madden's Game.

I remember how I felt when we won Bill after 24 futile years. Imagine how it would feel after 60 odd years? That is the best feeling in the world for Eagles fans

Jimmy Garoppolo has signed a 5 year deal with the 49ers.
Its big money but good move for both parties - Jimmy G gets his money and the 49ers with a ton of cap space lock up their quarterback in a qb market that is only going to get more crazy.
I want to like this more than once 😁😁😁
