That catch was such a shocking decision. The problem with the soft signal is that it is always given to the fielding team. So, in effect, the fielding team gets the benefit of the doubt for any controversial catch. If that was not enough evidence to overturn, there almost never will be. Umpires probably need to stop giving soft signals unless they actually get a good view of it.
I disagree. The umpires make the call, and it only gets overturned if the cameras show enough. Cameras really stuff with perspective, and foreshortneing, and make good catches look dodgy. I'd far rather live with an umpire making a call that is usually right, than rely on technology that can be misleading for catches.

Umpires aren't making a call though - they are just going with whatever the fielder says.

Really? I think they are making calls.
Turning back to the cricket -- do you think it was a clean catch? I do - would have no major issues if a BC batsmen was given.
also, getting hands under the ball apparently seems optional right now. Ish,a nd then CDG dropping them

I donโt think he should be bowling this late in the innings.

Fielding has been bloody atrocious.

I can't remember an umpire give a controversial catch not out in the past few years.

I can remember a TV umpire giving an australian wicketkeeper with a hot spot 'not out' a few years ago.

No, but the point is that TV umpires aren't infallible. I'm comfrotable with on field umpires making a call, and only being overturned by clear evidence. If umpires favour the fielding team and take their word, is that really an issue? How many controversial catches have there been in the last few years that TV wouldn't overturn?
