Bokke coach ...

Bloody impossible job.
This made me laugh -""I will not allow elements in SARU to wilfully destroy me and render me unemployable as was done to [former Springboks coach] Peter De Villiers."
PDV did that all on his own.
Yes! Thought the exact same thing.

"I was the most successful [South African] Super Rugby Coach at the time of my appointment and was requested to return to Springbok rugby from Japan because my country needed meβ" Coetzee said.
With a back row of Burger, Louw, Vermeulen, Center pairing of de Villiers, Fourie, Habana on the wing, your failure to win anything at super rugby level despite your embarrassment of riches is not a positive.

Rassieβs already been appointed. Has been for months. Just waiting for the formal announcements. Buh-bye Allister.
-
Allister is gonzo.
South Africa Rugby, Springboks official twitter account announces:
BREAKING: SA Rugby had reached an agreement with Allister Coetzee to part ways with immediate effect. The Rugby Department of SA Rugby will manage the responsibilities of the Bok coach until the coaching and management group for 2018 is confirmed later this month.

Has Rassie been comfirmed yet...?
-
Gavin Rich has a commentary how Rassie could pave the way for . . . John Mitchell.
(Post-RWC. Says it might take a couple years.)

A long journey?

@tim Do you think the Blues management will be targeting him for next year if things don't go well for Tana?
He's certainly an "unusual character" - I read his book and can't recall all the details that led to that conclusion, but it was extremely firm by the end.
I will watch his progress at the Bulls with interest!

You seem to have an affection for polarising figures promoted to coaching positions they don't deserve and aren't remotely qualified for - what are your thoughts on David Kidwell?

Will be interesting to see how Mitch goes at the Bulls.
He seemed to do pretty well with the US team and he's now in his mid-50s compared with being late-30s as AB coach, so you'd hope he's learned a bit in the interim.
So you reckon he'll be taking sessions with the fullbacks to make sure they are holding the ball correctly when they run?
I think he's proved he is a locker room c.a.n.c.e.r.

I'm astonished he continues to get work even if it appears the most difficult aspect of professional coaching is getting that first head coach appointment.
He must interview well.

He was the Hammetteur before Hammett!
