How does Munro get enough on those mishits to get yhem for 6?
Modern cricket bats and small NZ grounds play a big part.
Bay Oval is not small at all.
According to Rutherford, though, it is unlikely to get cricket tests because there is already a test venue in the province - in Hamilton.
Well if a Sky commentator says so... if must be true.
I have talked to people far more in the know than him about ND match allocations and he is off base.....way off base.Happy to take a bet on Bay Oval getting a test in the next 3 years.

A bet - that the Bay Oval in the Waikato won't get a test?!!!

I think @Chris-B has missed that Rutherford is referring to ND as the cricket province
You're right - and the joke becomes a lot less amusing.
I guess I just never think of CD as being a "province" - nor Ta$man for that matter.

Prett cool to watch.
Not very cool this Tui catch a million thing. If someone crushed my little girl, I don't think I would care about the camera and just start laying into the fluffybunny.
I think they should just have two or three zones where the catch can be taken so that people can then choose to sit away from that carnage.
They have taken your suggestion and their will now be zones for the catchers.

Not too mention a new clause stating any catches taken in a reckless manner wont count.

@MN5 it really hurts when it comes to Kane. Potentially an all time great but unlikely to get the chance to score enough runs to be in the very top echelon. Sucks.

Yeah but I guess that comes down to whether a guy is 'great' due to performance or cos of longevity. Not sure I'd rate Cook as one of the best of this or any era. Gooch and Boycott were probably better than him by virtue of the bowlers they faced.

It's definitely both, which puts Kane behind the 8 ball compared to his peers.
It also makes it harder to hit form when you play two tests at the very start of the season and two at the very end.

True which makes his and Taylor's records all the more impressive. Good test cricket ( emphasis on the word 'good' ) is the best cricket to follow which is why our dearth of opportunities sux.

@no-quarter 10 odd tests at home each year would help

Yup, Smith and Kohli having a field day at home certainly bolsters their numbers. Not to take anything away from them, they are pure class, but it's an uphill battle for little Kane.
