Black Caps vs Windies Series

If they are simply trying to fit the same number of overs into a shorter time period then that seems bloody ridiculous to me ...
test matches are exciting when they are close - they are 10-15 games within a game. If that plays out over 4 vs 5 days ... no difference to me.
-
Id suggest instead of focusing on 4 day tests there should be a focus on more day/night tests.
What's there been? A handful in the past couple of years? it needs to ramp up significantly.
If that means playing more tests at bigger venues or getting better lighting to current venues then so be it.

100%! They are fantastic, they add to the excitement without actually changing the game itself. Basically there are more variables, meaning it's not just the first morning that the seamers can have some fun - it can be day 4 under lights as well. I'm sold on the idea.

No, I don't think they are.
They're talking adding 15 overs a day ( 1 hour extra per day).
So they are losing 90 overs by removing day 5 and adding 60 overs by extending the 4 days by an hour. The aim, is to be able to fit test matches into a weekly schedule. E.g. 4 days cricket > 3 days rest & travel > 4 days cricket etc
So that a 5 match test series could fit into 5 weeks rather than 7 weeks. So we can fit in all the other white-ball formats & tournaments that generate cash for the administrators.
I'm open to it, not 100 % sold, but when the alternative is NZC going with 2 match test series it's potentially appealing to me. But I reckon David White would see it as room to add 2 more ODIs .......

Fifth 50+ opening partnership between these two. By NZ standards that is absolutely incredible!

Decent start we’ve got here lads.
How consistent is Raval?
13 innings, 5x 50’s, highest score 88 with an average of 44.5.
I know people will focus on the fact he hasn’t yet got a tonne, but gee getting this kind of consistency from a Kiwi opening batsmen is unheard of.
Long may it continue.
-
Not concerned if Raval never gets a century. He just needs to continue setting up the innings well. Raval has been dismissed for less than ten once in fourteen innings and has reached 50 all but four times. All you can expect from a New Zealand opener. Whatever comes after is just a bonus.

Frustrating scorecard, everybody with a start but only Jeet and CdG getting past 50. 3 dismissals down the leg side... ugh.
