66 from 42. exciting
27 from 15 balls, not enough boundaries....
F8ck! de Grandhomme stays in his crease and runs out Latham.
6 so 16 off 9 needed
de Grandhomme couldn't hit anything in the last 5 overs. At 12 off 3, Santner had a chance for 6 but fell short, mis-timed.
Fought really well but in the end blew this chance. -

no shame in losing a series there, and being in with a crack of winning. Exceeded my expectations (which aren't high, let's be honest)
A glorious defeat if ever there was one
You sound like a long time Black Caps supporter

Rossco is back in the T20 squad.
Brendon's influence on the squad selection must be finally waning.

Finally got to watch the last 10 overs (without seeing the result). Fuck they blew it. Great match, but just disappointing to get so close and cock it up.
Lots of positives though - mostly Tom Latham but the team mantra of taking the game deep was also evident. I guess a close loss is better than the alternative against one of the best teams around and at home. A Black Caps fan mantra right there, losing close is still better than a hiding. Yes it is a bit Stockholm syndrome.

What does de Grandhomme bring to the team other than being an earnest trier who opponents have now worked out?
CdG is the 5th bowler /all-rounder..
Where's Corey Anderson and Jimmy Neesham? I'm assuming they're injured and CdG is taking their spot.
I'm just wondering if Nicholls is the guy we want batting at 6 -

This is kind of linked to a query I have about this team - why not go with four pace bowlers (with Santner the spin option)?
We don't have a genuine all-rounder right now and our bowling bullpen is decent enough to have some rotation (Boult, Southee, Milne, Henry, Wagner, Wheeler, Bracewell, Kuggeleijn, Ferguson). Even if you want a batting option at eight, you have some choices in Henry, Bracewell and Kuggeleijn (the latter two will need some PR work I must admit).

That was an absolute hiding in every respect. We were ahead for the full duration of the match - hugely satisfying after the poor display in the first T20. Fucking Munro was in the zone.
Some really positive signs from this tour moving into the home season - bring it on!
