No tips for many a long day....
Spring carnival is heating up, Caulfield Cup three weeks from now.
NZ horses leading the charge at the moment for Caulfield Cup especially are
Bonneval
Gingernuts
Jon SnowBonnval super impressive winning last start fresh over a short distance
Gingernuts won at Hastings
Jon Snow very strong win at Moonee Valley last night, tough run early and did it easy in the short straightLove Bonneval at the moment, running against Hartnell in the Underwood on Sunday, think she can win the Caulfield Cup, maybe the Japanese runner Admire Deus is best value at the moment, Bonneval very short for CC @ 6.5
Alamandin last year's Melbourne Cup winner short price in CCup due to conditions, no rehandicap for MC if it wins CC.
Win - Caulfield Cup 21/10 (All In) Bet Win Odds Place Odds HUMIDOR 6.00 2.25 BONNEVAL 6.50 2.40 ALMANDIN 6.50 2.40 HARLEM 9.00 3.00 HARTNELL 10.00 3.25 GINGERNUTS 12.00 3.75 JON SNOW 17.00 5.00 FRANCIS OF ASSISI 21.00 6.00 EGG TART 21.00 6.00 ADMIRE DEUS 21.00 6.00

Alamandin $5 favourite for the Melbourne Cup, way too short IMO. Look elsewhere, not sure where though.

Have a few long range multis on that I set up a couple of months back.
Everest - She Will Reign
Caulfied Cup - Gingernuts / Egg Tart / Bonneval
Cox Plate - WinxEgg Tart not looking great at the moment so not too confident in that one but the other two look a good shot. Both pay around $200 to $1
The Everest only 12 days away now. She Will Reign had drifted there on the All In Odds but now back to fav after fridays MV win. I think Deploy is a big danger. That horse is a beast and very impressive of late.

Would be good to get this thread cranking as we head in to the summer carnival and share any hot tips or inside oil we come across. @Hooroo always has ear to the ground on the local stuff. I'm sure there are a few others too.
I probably have a wee punt most days, mainly on Aus races and saturdays I will have a good look at what is going on over there and try hit two or 3 of the meets. Usually Randwick or Rosehill and Caulfield or Flem plus maybe Mophetville or Doombden if there are runners there I like. Not usually a whole lot of focus for me on NZ as our tracks aren't so great (vs NZ) but hey winners are winners and some of our horses are bloody good.

Having said that re NZ tracks.....decent meet coming this saturday at Hastings.
Picking gingernuts to go back to back in the group 1s and win the livamol classic. Not seen any odds but expecting around $3 so not a lot of value.
Opie is also riding gingernuts brother Griffin in another race there. Tough race though with the likes of Bostonian involved.
Also at this meeting in race 7 is a prick of horse that has burnt me every time so far. Secret Squirrel. Has some wheels but never quite wins with a record of 2nd, 2nd, 2nd and 3rd from its 4 starts. Pretty sure its been fav (or very close to it) every time!
Another call out for @hooroo as Galaxy Miss is running in race 9........

@jk Nominated for Te Rapa too. Will be track dependant.
We now have 8 in work and had a first start winner at Taupo two weeks ago, Ricky Baker. He will hopefully be running this weekend too, Nominated at both Hastings and Te Rapa.
We have some nice fillies in work and also Tattyboglar back in action (Bred by full brother of Black Caviar, Moshe)
One of the fillies is a half sister to Peaky Blinders which we will race as a 'syndcate' of people as there has been plenty of interest. (If people I know on here are keen, send me a PM by friday and I will give you details)

Mates horse is running at Te Rapa today race 6. Hes reckons it needs further but at $20 to win and $6 place I'm having a crack.
Also, Lady Aurelia should win the Breeders Turf Sprint in the states sunday morning. Its short but could be a good win multi with gingernuts for about $4 return

@hooroo said in Rough tips and other bets...:
@jk what's the damn name of the horse in Race 6? I searched "JK's Mate's Horse" but nothing came up
My guess from the odds he quoted is that it's either Bombard or Contessa Vanessa (if it's shortened since his quote).

@smudge I looked soon after he posted and Oriental Dragon was $20/$7.50...so looks like a fantastic tip
Your $500 each way must have crashed the odds in.
