Tasman vs North Harbour

@stargazer think refs are over using TMOs these days, often for shit they have seen but dont want to make calls on.

Agree, nutbrown is one of the worst offenders

@chris-b I actually though Li diving on the player on the ground was worse than the tackle that slipped up to the neck. Dirty.
Could easily have carded both of them and awarded a penalty try!
We should probably be up by 35 points - but for terrible reffing.
-
Man - it's lucky we won that or I would have been extremely bitter. As it is, we were ripped off a bonus point and Harbour were gifted one.
However, my main concern tonight was to avoid relegation, so job done. A bonus point would have taken us close to wrapping up a semi-final spot, so I guess Auckland and Counties fans can send Nutbrown and his sideline umpire a bouquet!!!

Hunt looks like a better version of Bernard Foley. This kid can play.
Agree @akan004, I was just sitting here wondering how long he going to be happy being back up 10 at Crusaders. Also have to say young Blackadder is fast becoming one of my favourite players in ITM cup, just sat here watched him as much as possible for parts of the game and his workrate is out of this world, has he got a super contract yet?

Most of the Ta$man guys went pretty well. Makalio, Frizell, Blackadder, Samu, Taufua, Guyton, Hunt and Jordan were all very good. A few silly penalties given away at times - not least by Captain Tim Perry - but, overall a pretty good performance and not reflected on the scoreboard.

I only saw the first half so will need to catch up on what happened but geez Nutbrown is out of his depth isn't he? Do these ex player refs get to skip all the experience gathered from years of club rugby? He just doesn't come across as confident in his own decisions at all and gives an impression of getting confused under pressure.
Maybe it was just not a great day for him (I haven't seen a lot of him this year) -

Unless the directive has changed, that should have been a PT. If a player commits a foul in the act of a try attempt he is taken out of the equation. Take away the tackler and that is a try. If you commit a foul that results in a PT it is an automatic YC.
Nutbrown was looking at it only from the severity of the high tackle.
I reckon PT and possibly a restart with a penalty to Ta$man for the Li offence, except diving on or sliding into a player trying to score seems to be one of those things that gets ignored by all refs. -
@crucial I'm the wrong person to ask. I completely lost faith in him and his touchie and was questioning everything!
I might have to watch the game again once I've calmed down to see whether we really did get 35 points worth of poor calls against us!!!

Christ - how's that a yellow card?
Duffie purposefully put himself in a dangerous position.
Bollocks!!!!!@
Different to the BBBR situation as BBBR was just tangled and wasn't expected to foresee the consequence. In this case the player knew he had someone on his back and should have realised he would likely flip them by standing up. He could have grabbed a leg.
Unfortunately, as we have seen with the whole jumping for high kicks fiasco, players are immune from putting themselves in danger. -

@crucial you're replying to Stargazer's point. I'm not comparing it to anything - including contesting high kicks - except other stupid refereeing decisions.
I'm trying to reply to two points really. Yours about the 'victim' putting themselves in a dangerous position and @Stargazer s one about being similar to BBBR.
