Some interesting cuts by teams before the start of the season:
Victor Cruz cut by Chicago, Brock Osweiler cut by Browns, TJ Ward cut by Broncos to name a few. 49ers cut Matt Barkley and choose to go with CJ Beathard as backup QB (he's been good in preseason).
-
Fantasy draft done (I actually did alright) and some big news that will make M4L cream his knickers:
Broncos, Brock Osweiler agree to terms on one-year deal.
-
Slightly surprised that the Pats cut Austin Carr and Brandon Bolden.
But then I saw the Pats make a trade with the Colts. Pick up WR Dorsett for QB Jacoby. I guess they saw more value in Dorsett than Carr, who I thought looked good in preseason.
I guess Bolden is just a casualty given the plethora of RBs that the Pats now have. -
@Sneakdefreak Definitely a youth movement in San Francisco - they cut WR Kerley who was their most productive receiver last year and they signed to a 3 year deal in the offseason. They went with 3 rookie wide receivers - two of whom were undrafted. 55% new players for the 49ers vs a year ago.
-
@KiwiMurph Kerley lost out to Victor Bolden who was pretty amazing on the kick returns.
-
@Sneakdefreak and to Trent Taylor who is pretty much a carbon copy of Kerley.
-
So the first half is up in the season opener. Pats leading the Chiefs, 17 - 14.
I'm liking the look of Gillislie in this Pats offense. Also on the other side, rookie RB, Kareem Hunt, has looked good outside of the fumble in his first carry. Got both of them in most of my fantasy teams

Everyone will now shit on the Pats and the Pats will reply a 12-game win streak.
Who's everyone picking for the Superbowl?
I'm going with the popular pick of Packers/Pats. Maybe Steelers or Raiders in the AFC but the NFC is looking pretty weak (apart from Green Bay).

Some interesting results in week 1 so far.
Bengals get shut out at home, Texans get smashed by the Jaguars and Rams demolish the Colts.
49ers got completely outplayed by Panthers. Not a surprise for 49ers fans though - it's going to be a long rebuild - no quick fix. Thankfully it looks like Reuben Foster's injury isn't too bad (and he was excellent before he got injured).
Never want to read too much into week 1 but you wonder if Rams are primed to be a contender. They've acquired a lot of talent in recent years but were held back by poor coaching. More evidence required but a great start.

Week 1 is always an aberration in the NFL (apart from the 49ers, they will be terrible but that's good). The Colts are a bad team with a pretty good QB who is currently injured so LA took advantage of that, but Todd Gurley struggled to move the pill for the Rams so you have to think he's a bust in the making.
-
I was impressed by Romo for his first time in the booth. I think he can be pretty good.
Apparently the 49ers won against the Colts according to Chuck...
On the 49ers, I thought Hyde looked good. Nothing special in terms of numbers, but his usage was limited due to all the short drives, but what he was asked to do, he excelled. Hoyer was pretty poor.
@Sneakdefreak The Colts have one of the worst rosters in the league without Luck. They should be the whipping boys this season while Luck is still out.
Gurley is seriously looking like Trent Richardson 2.0
