Raiders win 36-16.
Some thoughts:
- Turns out the new owner is some bloke called Paul Davys. I know very little about him but will be interesting to see how this unfolds i.e will Davys business partner Peter Brown be involved, who is also the agent for Shaun Johnson.
- Ata Hingano was the best player in this loss, was always trying to make something out of nothing and defending well.
- But I don't think Hingano works well with SJ as they are similar players.
- Nathaniel Roache also played well - I feel Luke is on the outer. Monty Betham said pre-match how it was Luke's training/preparation that saw him relegated to the bench.
- Raiders are massive. Steroids are an amazing thing.
-
Match of the round, Tigers come from two tries behind to beat Manly.

@canefan Oh sheet, I know this guy!
He was head coach of Te Atatu Roosters back around 2011 but ended up having a falling out with the chairman and the club lost several of its players (mainly to Glenora).
All of a sudden I'm not that confident in this new ownership.

surprised this doesnt happen more often TBH (in both codes) either this way or a knee...
How could anyone come to the conclusion that's not deliberate?
Fuck league commentators are dumb.

That's really old

the funny thing is, there was one on the weekend in AFL , that was pretty similar ,

So, the Gold Coast Titans are giving the Warriors a run in the "worst way to run a club" standings. First, have good young team over-achieving and making finals; next buy expensive over-rated player with known attitude and motivation issues; sell some of the previously mentioned young players to pay for expensive "star"; have said "star" then predictably play like shit, put in no effort, and fall out with the coach; next sack coach despite him getting on with every other player, and leading them to unexpected finals last year because "it costs 3 times less than sacking the star".
Jarryd Hayne is really racking up the numbers in the "coaches i have got sacked" column
Paul Kent is a weasel. Last week he's giving Hayne shit for not trying, today he's writing a column that he does try, but it's Henry's fault he can't coach him, and his body can't handle any workload.
Also Matthew Elliot has come out and said the Warriors make good players worse, and the whole organisation is fucked. Wow Matt, startling insight
-
@mariner4life I don't watch much league...just saw it pop up on my FB feed.
Just surprised we don't see more knees or feet to heads (obviously accidental ones, not deliberate like this one)
I listened to the interview with Matt on my way home yesterday, I thought it was pretty good, but nothing really new in there.

Warriors do well in the first half, shit the bed in the second. Seven-losses in a row but only one more painful game to go.
Some thoughts:
- They're shit.

The Canberra Raiders are eliminated from playoff contention after losing 26-22 to Nathan Cleary's Panthers. Panthers are now confirmed for the playoffs. Cowboys and SeaEagles just have to hold off 9th placed St George, the last team (outside the top 8 ) with a shot of making the playoffs.

The Raiders can still make the playoffs. They will have to win both their matches and rely on the results of Manly, Cowboys and the Dragons. Yes they will be playing the Storm in the final round, but the Storm could rest players ahead of the playoffs.
In theory, it's possible for both the Cowboys and Manly to both drop out of the 8.
Also, in theory, there is also a scenario for the Panthers to miss out. So they haven't "clinched" a playoff spot yet.
