Without making judgments about that particular ruling, I really don't like the partisan nature of the TMOs. Particularly in South Africa.
And Japan... but obviously not with such an impact on games.
But yeah, at Super Rugby level, I assume that "up and coming", or "next tier" refs are being used as Assistants and TMOs... which is fair enough. But as such, I'd want to see more decisiveness from the "senior" ref on the field, and over-ruling them when required.
Sure - in the past people have ridiculed the on-field ref when he's over-ruled the TMO, but I think that's better than an "apprentice" having the power to change a game, with the more experienced guy letting it go for the sake of not ruining their confidence. -

My bum is still squeaking.
On to next week then. You've got to think the Chiefs team that played this game, after a flight back to NZ, isn't going to do well against the Crusaders.
You've also got to think, watching the close-ups of Etzebeth's face after the game... "Yeeeaahhh... suck it" -

Saders are our bitches.
Being a true neutral (in that kinda being from the 'Naki, I'll jump on whatever bandwagon looks like winning) - that'd be nice to see, only if the Canes beat the Lions. I don't see the Chiefs crossing the Indian Ocean twice in two weeks and winning a Final.
Edit: thrice in 3 weeks? Fuck knows, I can't count, I went to high school in the goddamn 'Naki, for chrissake. -

The only reason a SAteam is still in the comp is because of the draw.
Highlanders would have beaten LionsWas just going to ask the question, "do you think Highlanders would have beat the Lions" and then you edited your post...
I don't think the sequence/timing was right - but imagine the uproar if Highlanders had defaulted their last game, in order to deliberately slip to 8th position, be able to fly to SA early to prepare, and then beat the Lions. -
BBBR is far from his usual form. Is he carrying an injury or is he just tired ? He did not seem too concerned by the game while Mitch Brown is too small for a lock. That second row was outplayed by Du Toit and Etzebeth and this is one of the reasons why the Chiefs played so badly today.
