@jegga said in Alternative needed from the absolute crap of stuff.co.nz:

She was quite tidy back when she was hosting that kids show but she was no Fenella Barfield.

    Bathfield I think.
I have mentioned that Fenella was a friend of my older sisters and she liked pool parties...oh yes I have. Sorry.

Seeing as we are on the "stuff" thread and Fenella was mentioned, I googled. This is one of their articles:
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/70191946/six-kiwi-tv-celebs-wed-like-to-see-back-on-screen

I particularly liked this quote -
"Bathfield became a popular figure, particularly among young male viewers. Career became untenable after an unfortunate off-screen wardrobe malfunction was captured by NZ Truth."

Anybody care to elaborate? Not on the obvious "young male viewers" attraction, but the wardrobe malfunction.

GFYs . The closest I ever got to that was seeing her at the Nissan Mobil 500 when she drove in the celebrity race. She was actually hotter in real life.

Yeah and her boob popped out of her dress, same thing happened to Tina Cross at a telethon a few years before that at about 3 am just after I fell asleep. My mate tried to wake me in time but they switched cameras.

Long overdue article about Millie , any word from Max Key?

She looks absolutely ridiculous. Like a 90s grunge rocker.

I thought Steven Tyler had got a tattoo...

She was quite tidy back when she was hosting that kids show but she was no Fenella Barfield.

Looks more masculine than Tyler too

men who look like old lesbians

Bathfield was hawt. Toni Marsh too

Of course. Just think of those other fern favourites, like "when is the team named". Repetition is the root of fern humour.

Glad I missed this show and the attempt to rewrite history . Robyn Malcolm was quite vocal in her support of the greens till she messed with Jackson. There was a by election locally and the poor woman standing for the greens had to put up with a fair bit of abuse from people who were out of work and had no income because of the Winz stand down due to Malcolm's idiocy and came a distant third for her trouble. It takes a special type of moron to cause anti union protests on labour day .

I wonder if they got into her support of her brother in law who was sacked for sexual harassment?

Robyn Malcolm was a complete dick. The trouble with some NZ actors, being a big fish in a puddle, is they get a very warped view on their importance in the world.

The truth for NZ creatives, is that sometimes you suck up lower pay for an amazing opportunity, ie exposure to a global audience. It entirely depends on whether you are looking at your career from a right now, or long term perspective. An actor/singer/writer/artist, is entitled to NOTHING on the global stage. If you want to make it, you play the game, you learn, you make contacts, you take opportunities, and you make your way up the ladder. Of course there are things that suck, and aren't fair. But guess how much foreign studios/publishers give a fuck about that. If you take the hits, prove yourself, make them money, they become a lot more amiable to negotiation. That's life in the corporate creative world.

An ex of mine was into theatre and we'd often see a few Shithead street stars at parties etc. Virtually all of them thought they were fucken Brad Pitt or Kate Winslet. The wankery from the majority of them was just sickening.

As someone has said on here ( possibly you @Mokey ) the genuine stars who have actually made it are often the most polite and gracious.

Yep, I think I've shared the story before of when I was at Uni, and one of my flatmates was a chef on the set of Hercules and Xena. We went to quite a few cast shindigs. Michael Hurst, Bruce Campbell, and Kevin Sorbo were lovely. Those who also had roles on Shortland St were so far up their own arse they needed night vision goggles.
