Apparently ETNZ "are under no illusions"... jesus, Burling sounded like a retard when he was answering questions, other when he was just completely honest:
"Peter... if Oracle's good news is that they're only one down, what's your good news?"
"That we're one up."
Cue laughter...
and then more rabbit-in-headlights babble with "we're under no illusions" thrown in a few times. That's a bit harsh.
I don't really care what he sounds like, as long as he wins. -
@mimic Yeah - I'd like it if he wins, but I was cringing when I heard "look, we're under no illusions.." for the third time. And I never got around to counting it, but I think there was another 3 times.
And I also enjoyed watching Jimmy chewing tacks while answering questions, and when Pete made honest off-the-cuff un-politicial answers. -

I don't really care what he sounds like, as long as he wins.Anyone remember Fitzy when he started? "Full credit to......"? or Kevvie's "yeah definitely"? Let them laugh all the way to Auckland. For the next AC

Watched both races while out at lunch, those boats still amaze me, the speed and agility of them is astounding, plus all that pressure on the 'foil things' when they are flying, nose down, look ready for a crash!

uh oh, Twattue has written Spithill off!

Or McCaw with his 'ya know' at the end of every sentence. Was a good drinking game though.

Larry Ellison's money at work? How much was Rattue paid to curse TNZ with his inbuilt wrongometer?
-
All very convincing so far.
Been betting on these races (like I have right thru the LV series with great success) and odds for NZ win have been $2 (race 1 and 2), $1.80 (race 3) and $1.67 (race 4). Bookies generally are pretty good with this stuff so that odds trend says a lot about what they are thinking. Doesnt change much to change the outcome of these races so would expect next race to still be around $1.50-1.60 for NZ

was the gap this big last time before Oracle pulled it back?
Probably not. Our whole package seems to be better than One Rich Arsehole Called Larry Ellison, this time around. Both hydro and aero dynamics, team work, cyclors v grinders, etc. We could have just sailed away in today's races with the faster boat, but sensibly chose to cover. Last time we had the better boat in light air but not so much if the wind picked up. Will be interesting if it gets stronger next weekend. Bloody annoying that they have a whole week to remedy things and that we loose the chance to push home the advantage.
Was good to hear that it normally takes 80 days and 15,000 pieces of carbon fibre to build a new foil, (unfortunately Oracle have them already). 30 pieces of silver changed history apparently, so who knows what a billionaire can do?

Not sure if it's true but read there's a limit to the modifications that can be made this late in the cup.
Certainly can't chuck into the crew a Ben Ainsley.Really? I didn't know that. Thought that they could do what they liked with the crew, and the boat was able to be changed as long as it was still with in the ACC "formula".

we seemed to have learned a lot racing BAR and Artemis - our starts were a big issue.
Yeah. We looked to have boat speed over them as well so pretty much stayed out of trouble and backed ourselves to get over them in the race. Commentators made a fuss over our starting but we are showing that we can match it at the start now. I wouldn't say that we were sandbagging earlier but perhaps holding back a bit.
