I was going to make a post, asking how big the gulf is between Wellington school rugby, and the rest of the Hurricanes region schools. After reading about Kini Naholo scoring 6 tries etc as Hastings massacred St Pats Town.
But, I'm a bit confused.
This article reads like it was a 2nd XV match:

@KiwiMurph I believe the last time that happened Dan Carter and Adam Thomson were playing for Boys High and James Ryan was playing for Christs
Still angry at Damien Mackenzie for missing all his kicks and costing us the win a few years ago

I heard Auckland Grammar beat Hamilton BHS..Quite surprising, as Auckland Grammar isn't likely to make the top four of the Auckland comp..
I was at the game. Ham BHS lost it, rather than AGS won it. Ham BHS scored 3 tries to 2 but missed 2 easy conversions from near in front, the last with about 5 mins to play. Then a late penalty to AGS made it 18-17.

With Hastings Boys HS playing so well, Napier BHS is flying under the radar a bit. They've started this season much better than last year and it will be interesting to see how they'll go in the Super 8, which starts on Saturday.
Most (but not all) Wellington Schools on the other hand ...Results from today:
Napier BHS 1st XV (43) - (5) Scots College 1st XV
St Pat's Silverstream 1st XV (26) - (3) Wellington College 1st XV -
MAGS won't allow Sky coverage of their home 1st XV games

Would be interesting if sky gave club rugby the First XV treatment. Choose 1 game a week and give it the good production treatment (a step up from Grassroots Rugby). There's plenty of local derbies, crunch games etc to choose from nationwide. Would get good crowds I reckon and look a good product in tv. Juding from Grassroots it seems the locals make an effort to turn up for that rare tv appearance by their club.
The reason I like watching the first Xv games on sky is;
- NPC had been hollowed out so missing those passionate local games
- watching a game in a packed out school field rather than a quarter full stadium.
- they're kits generally aren't terrible ....
With only 5 NZ pro teams there is sometines only 3 games a week with NZ involvement (if there is a SR NZ derby and/or a bye). Heaps of vacant weekend tv landscape from April to August.

PNBHS have had the Polson Banner for the last 3 years. Looks like it might go back to where it belongs when NBHS play them this year

And then Napier should man up and put it on the line against Hastings.
No doubt they'd get it straight back again next year when our two years of glory are over.
