Yeah. That's good, the sort of stuff I'm interested in, learnt a lot from that. No twirling speed measurements.
Although I reckon they lost their way in that segment. I 'got it' from the video analysis. Didn't need the live action recreation on a cramped studio. They might be useful for showing cleanout or turnover techniques.
Not a fan of standing and talking though. It's distracting. That clip did have a good standing distraction in it though.

Not sure entirely sure what the point of the Breakdown ever has been - not convinced any of the panel aside from Kayes and Gibbit bother watching the non NZ games or watch the non NZ games a second time.
Reunion seemed like a TJ passion project that somehow got turned into a TV show, The Breakdown at times seems like a lame attempt at a US style analysis show with everyone miscast. Goldie isn't charismatic enough as a host, Kirwan has no gravitas as a coach and Jones has no credibility as a technical analyst. So what is the point?
Bring back Reunion with TJ showing alternate angle shots of Saffers throwing cheap shots and giving it to the ARU board - even if it means we have to sit through him crapping on about Ta$man during the NPC.

I think he's an excellent broadcaster.
My only quibble is that because he's such a confident and eloquent ex-player. He is a bit wasted as a host, if he has a guest/panelist ex-player who struggles to get words out.
Even in the current panel set up which I complimented in opening post. It's a bit weird that goldie is facilitating the conversation for a radio guy and print guy to give the answer. You'd think it would be the other way around.
Also disagree on Kirwan criticism, he's good. Gets his points across clearly. Plus he's been there done that as coach and player in many diverse environments, some successful and some not. I like hearing what he has to say.
Same here. I've been really impressed with how Wilson has come on as a commentator. That prick really is good at everything. And yeah, I agree he's wasted being the facilitator.
Kirwan was a breath of fresh air when he first started as a talking head, earlier this season. But I just find he tends to be too dominant on the panel now. He's actually a lot better on that Feed the Backs Facebook show because he's a bit more chilled out.

And I must be well and truly in the minority, because I actually like Kamo on Sky, even back when he had his own half hour stats show. He brings a viewpoint no one else is covering and I just interpret the fact his words start to roll together as the excitement about the topic getting the best of him

Not saying Goldie isn't a good broadcaster - just miscast as a host. Same with JK, if he were cast as a devils advocate/blow hard guy that works great - but instead he is asked to comment from a technical or experienced coaching stand point where he struggles. Reunion generally had at least one of the IRANZ guys on and even if they didn't have the resume of Kirwan they brought a far more articulate analysis of the game.
Enjoy Kirwan on FTB though, much more suited to his style.

I don't go out of my way to watch any of new Sky rugby shows, and usually only take an interest near the international season. That post-match show is cringe-worthy though.
If you want an analyst get Mex back. He had his detractors as a commentator but was excellent in explaining what was happening on the field in Re:Union.

My old man was a big fan of reunion, I used to get these fairly frantic phone calls from him immediately after it ended sometimes for the quiz at the end of the show that went like this " who threw the last pass to Jonah to score the winning try in the first Bledisloe test in 2000? ..........Taine Randell?..... are you sure? Ok then". One time I went around to his place and we were watching the highlights of a 6n game and it became obvious that the teams had switched colours and Ireland were playing in red and wales in green, mum explained that the tv was just about rooted and rolled her eyes when the old man said there was nothing wrong with it once you got used to it. Anyway I got a phone call from him about three weeks later, he'd won that quiz after all those attempts and got a big screen tv , stereo and surround sound, he still watches rugby and the racing channel on it.

Yep - back in NZ for a couple of weeks, first rugby I watch on NZ TV - has that tripe as the post-match analysis. W.T.F?
A drunk (drugged?) actor trying to make as many jokes as possible, with occasional "guy down the pub" 'analysis'. I never thought I could dislike "Munta" - but he managed it. -
The Rugby Report Card is pretty good. Much better than the regular Green and Gold podcast.

@kiwimurph Both Robinson and Plumtree didn't actually answer the questions that Chelsea Alley asked. I would have been interested to hear what Plumtree thought of SA's tactics.

I watched this last night hoping to get some insight from the RC games. Apart from the interview with Havili this show really is a wasted opportunity. Tui is a big step down from Alley on the panel and Mils isn't the most natural in front of the camera.
I didn’t watch the normal show but Tui’s interview with Alan Bunting on the Playmakers special has some really interesting stuff about leadership and coaching. Much better than the usual cliches and she drew out some very good insights.
Worth a watch. -

@bovidae @Crucial the fact that this show doesn't get a mention on this rugby mad sports site tells you all you need to know about the content. It's superficial fluff, not really worth tuning in for unless there's something in particular.
Hence the reason I only pick and choose content to watch.
The show is a massive embarrassment of old boys talking cliches. We have some of the best rugby brains in the world to tap into for analysis and comment but for some reason Sky think we need to hear old player’s opinions instead. -
Caught a little bit of the show last night and thought that Tui was contributing well and appeared a lot more comfortable.
At times her contributions were so good that Goldie let her go a bit too long and she had to resort to cliches to fill the gap but hopefully they can fix that between them.
I thought she has brought a different perspective to the show compared to the 'old boy retired player - back in my day' thing it can easily fall into. She adds some life to things as well.
Hope they keep using her.
