NRL 2017

20-14 to the Storm. Good game, some positives to take from it for the Warriors.
-
Some thoughts:
- It's official - Warriors confirm that Ben Matulino has signed with Wests for 2018. Time to roll out the welcome mat for James Graham.
- Another classic game but Warriors ran out of juice in the final 15 minutes. Warriors will win on the return leg.
- Although a loss, the Warriors are only two points out of the top 8. And some teams (Dragons etc) will tumble out quickly.
- Luke played well but Roache isn't the best fit with him. Tevaga would be and should be.
- Although Matulino is leaving, Gavet is doing his best impersonation of Mutts. Great catch in the air too.
- Don't care what anyone says - that Melbourne wing was out.
- Where is that Wellington Hurricanes PR guy who was fapping himself to death over Nelson Asofa-Solomona in 2016? NAS was MVP tonight and should be in line for a Kiwis jersey, which will piss off WHPR guy (fap, fap)
- Shaun Johnson was laying in the hits tonight. Smacked Slater around a few times.
- Ken Maumalo = mediocre. Lacks the speed and power to be a wing in the NRL. Chanze Nichol-Klostad or Tui Lolohea.
- Quick turn around this week, Roosters on Sunday. Expect a few guys to suffer on the turn around (Kata in particular who left the field injured)
-
Suliasi Vunivalu apparently isn't eligible for the Kiwis which is a huge shame. We have the forwards to match the Aussie pack but not the backs to live with their backline. He would have definitely been a great addition to the Kiwis backline.
They'll find a way to make him a Queenslander....

storms feeder team plays in Queensland , so if he is naturalised as Australian that may be the case

media are claiming this is the aussie side leaked
- Darius Boyd (Broncos)
- Blake Ferguson (Roosters)
- Will Chambers (Storm)
- Josh Dugan (Dragons)
- Valentine Holmes (Sharks)
- Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys)
- Cooper Cronk (Storm)
- Aaron Woods (Tigers)
- Cameron Smith (Storm)
- David Klemmer (Bulldogs)
- Boyd Cordner (Roosters)
- Matt Gillett (Broncos)
- Trent Merrin (Panthers)
Interchange:
14. Matt Moylan (Panthers)
15. Tyson Frizell (Dragons)
16. Josh Papalii (Raiders)
17. Shannon Boyd (Raiders) -
Good team that. JT won't be rushed back by the Cowboys, so will probably have to prove fitness in camp. Dugan at centre is a weakness i reckon.
In NRL signing news, i notice Dane Gagai is holding out on re-signing with the Knights. He would be a good pick up as i think we are a bit light in the centre/wing spots.

@kiwiinmelb Impressive side. I think they will beat us by 15-20, even without Inglis and possibly Thurston. Only player whom I don't rate is Chambers, I think Joey Leilua is a much better player.

17. Shannon Boyd (Raiders)Good side if that is the side. I predict the Kiwis side to be:
1.Roger Tuivasa-Sheck 2.Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Dean Whare 4. Jordan Kahu 5. Jordan Rapana 6. Kieran Foran 7. Shaun Johnson 8. Jesse Bromwich 9. Isaac Luke 10. Adam Blair 11. Kevin Proctor 12. Simon Mannering 13. Jason Taumalolo
Bench: 14. Elijah Taylor 15. Martin Taupau 16. Greg Eastwood 17. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 18th man: Russell Packer -
@Sneakdefreak i would play Packer over that fat idiot Eastwood

Eastwood always plays well for the Kiwis and Packer will probably need to be on the outer so to avoid the moral crusader army in the media.
#rumourmill talk is Bulldogs pest Josh Reynolds is signing with Wests.
-
@Sneakdefreak he gets fatter and less fit every year though. And his form is worse than normal, while Packer is having a really good season with the Dragons, on both sides of the ball. Just as long as JWH doesn't get picked.
That Reynolds rumour has been circling for a few weeks. I'm not sure i would make that deal, and that's without taking in to account my personal feelings on Reynolds. He's not creative, the 'dogs attack has really battled with him leading it. Yes he's combative, but his form has been a bit ordinary for a while, and only seems to have sparked to life now he's looking for a contract. The Tigers will effectively be starting again, not sure he is the guy i would look to for that project. Unless of course you get him for way unders.
-
@mariner4life Tigers will be having to pay big dollars to attract players to that madhouse, so Reynolds will be a decent cap hit for them.

I like our backs if it includes SJ, Foran, Rapana, RTS. They will cause the Aussies problems of we get quick ball or in 2nd phase.
The key for us to win is if our bigger back row players can create opportunities through offloads in the tackle. We need an Adam Blair type that is hard as nails but can ball play when needed.
-
@mariner4life The problem with replacing Eastwood with Packer is that you loose a ball player and only gain a workhorse.
Matulino would be a better shot, even with only a couple of games under his belt.
@Sneakdefreak That's not a bad looking team to be fair.

I reckon NAS is going to create some havoc ,
been watching him develop over the last 12 months , and he is just starting to mature into this massive wrecking ball
biggest player in the nrl at 21 and a handful to contain
