6 weeks halved for good behaviour and relative innocuous action?

Blues or Chiefs. Surely this is a no-brainer. He will be a guaranteed starter for the Blues.

I'd be happy to have him, seems a decent ten.

    Dumb ginga.

Thankfully, two of those games are against the Sunwolves and Reds. Then again, we probably shouldn't take them that lightly given the Chiefs ability to play down at their opponents level over the last month or so.

Fingers crossed TKB makes a quick recovery.

@Unco guess the issue is, who is next cab off the rank, cos he was your WTG or Dev 9 wasn't he?

    @taniwharugby

As the article says Logan Crowley (Taranaki) and Luke Campbell (BOP) are the current Chiefs Dev halfbacks.

Yip. They already called up Counties' Taumateine when Weber went down, so he's the next cab. No clue who'll be on the bench if TKB isn't fit though, probably one of the dev team halfbacks. Or hell, maybe Rennie will give a nod to Hansen and select DMac as halfback cover.

9 rounds in and all of the NZ teams have played 8 games

    1 Crusaders 36
    2 Hurricanes 33
    3 Chiefs 33
    4 Highlanders 23
    5 Blues 17

Left to play before Lions Tour

    Crusaders - Cheetahs (A), Bulls (A), Hurricanes, Chiefs (A), Rebels (A), Highlanders
Hurricanes - BYE, Stormers, Crusaders (A), Cheetahs, Bulls (A), Force (A), Chiefs
Chiefs - Sunwolves, Reds, BYE, Crusaders, Blues (A), Tahs, Hurricanes (A)
    Highlanders - Stomers, Cheetahs (A), Bulls (A), Force (A), Tahs, Crusaders (A)
Blues - Brumbies (A), Tahs (A), Cheetahs, Stormers (A), Chiefs, Reds

    Some key things to watch.

    • Crusaders return from trip to SA to face Canes (although at home)
    • Chiefs have easy run for 3 weeks before facing Crusaders in a home game while Saders will have done a SA tour followed by Canes in the lead up
    • Blues could get a roll on in the next three rounds but have an awful draw. Two Oz games in succession (mini tour or flying back and forth?), a home game followed by a one game trip to SA followed by the Chiefs on return.
    • If the Canes beat the Crusaders they will likely get a very good run of points from this batch of games
    • Highlanders could potentially get a roll on even with their trip to SA although they return home to face the Saders in ChCh.

@Crucial I think you have to factor in that the Chiefs v Crusaders game is hardly a home game for the Chiefs either, as this game is played in Fiji. Also, the Blues game v Reds is played in Apia.

Yes, good point. The Crusaders will go SA, SA, Home v Hurricanes, Fiji, Melbourne.
A tough run travel wise plus the Canes have no travel before their match up and the Chiefs have a bye before the Fiji game.

Andre Esterhuizen (Sharks) suspended for 6 weeks for a dangerous (tip) tackle. Longest suspension of the season thus far.

@Stargazer looks more like a WWE move than a tip tackle! 😉

Well earned tbh - you can't go suplexing people on the field. That could easily result in a broken neck.

Was it Tialata a few years back that did a similar one? No head hitting ground but a big wrestling slam?

Way, way back in my day. You would have tried to drive him back in goal for a 5m scrum, or towards the corner for an attacking line out.
