@Stargazer The standard of refereeing in 7s is woeful.

@antipodean Yes. I assume they send the worst refs and commentators (apart from a few 7s specialists like Te Nana) to the 7s tournaments. I really like 7s, but officiating mistakes have way more impact in such a short game than in XVs. Refs should be much better.

Now Samoa the victim of the ref (after advice of his assistant). Penalised with a yellow and a penalty try for pushing a Welsh player at the try line. If that's a push, I shouldn't pat the cat anymore because it might be seen as animal abuse.

Craig Evans is just fucking terrible. He wasn't biased, just bad. Every breakdown (bar a couple) ended in a whistle, I seriously doubt that he has ever played the game.

Watching the tournament this weekend, I've noticed several players not wearing a mouth guard. That includes at least one NZ player ...

That was hardly over the horizontal. Commentator's reaction way over the top. It wasn't that dangerous. Nevertheless, yellow for Knewstubb.

Wow, this Cup SF is epic. SA was well ahead and the USA have managed to come back after regular time was up. Going to extra time now.

The new men's core team for the 2017-2018 World Sevens Series is ... Spain!
They just beat Germany 12 to 7.

Geez, only 9 of the 13 NZ squad members still able to play. So many injuries again! Wonder who they're going to call up for the Singapore Sevens next weekend.

Now a weird call from the ref, preventing NZ to take the quick tap after Argentina is penalised.
