A dramatic write-up of when it all fell in a heap for Australia in about an hour...

Marsh - fucking hopeless again. One important innings, basically. Rest of the time, dud.

@NTA On the plus side - Mitch Marsh scored more runs and at a higher average than Virat Kohli, which should stand him in good stead for his future test career.

Three dominant batsman in the series and, aside from them, Maxwell garners a bit of credit - but, too few Aussies averaging over 30.

Similar shitty averages for both sides

    3 Aussies vs 4 Indians above 30
    6 Aussies vs 5 Indians above 25

It's more about when the wickets came. Like other recent series the Aussies are having 1 or 2 horrendous sessions

Difference between the sides was one team could cope without their best batsman scoring a truckload, the other couldn't.

Next team to play Aussie should just take a leaf out of Brett Lee's book & beam Smith first test. Cause its game over after that. Just when I thought, post Ponting then Clarke, there'd never be another Aussie captain I disliked so much yet had to admit was a fricking batting legend along comes that little fecker.

    jesus, bitter series.

Stories that Smith invited the Indians for a beer after the test, stand in skipper said yes, Kohli pulled rank, said no, so no beers.

BCCI and their pet broadcaster release video of Wade and Smith sledging Jadeja, which is kind of poor form given the directions around stump mics between balls. What they were saying was pretty funny though, asking Jadeja why he doesn't get picked outside of India, and saying it's his last test for a while, as India are away. That's good sledging i reckon. Still, Jadeja has the last laugh.

Yeah poor form by the Indians, it's not like Aussies asked him why he's so fucken fat or asked how it feels to be the worse player in his family

It just shows you how strained the relationship between Kohli and Smith really is. For the Indians, that shitty Kingfisher would taste very sweet.

That shitty beer is less likely to actually give you the shits than the water - so I actually was O.K. with it.

Problem with that sledge is that it is wrong. It's Ashwin who was missing out on selection in 3 seamer /1 spinner balance.

Said without checking , not sure cricinfo records goes far enough back in history to when BCCI weren't so rich that they actually had to tour.

@Rapido should have checked first. Jadeja has played one away test since mid-2014. Ashwin in that time has played 10

But your 2nd point is right, those motherfuckers have been home a lot lately.

    @mariner4life

India have won all their test series at home - they currently hold a clean sweep of all nations over the last 7-8 years. A remarkable achievement - would be interested if anyone else does that - I'd guess Australia regularly... but after that?

Well done to a stroppy indian side. Some good cricket to watch.

@Snowy Select any Indian beer you like. I'll have a Kingfisher at an Indian restaurant myself.

My point was that India won the fuckin' series so could have enjoyed a celebratory drink at Aussie's expense.

@nzzp In the last 5 years, India have won 3 out of every 4 tests they have played at home. Away they have won 1 out of every 4 tests they have played. Of course that's the largest disparity between home and away form for the major nations...

    BUT

That's mainly because they have won so many at home. Their away form is actually better than England's. We win away from home more than England and India do.

@Bovidae interesting, but not surprising. I would say viewing numbers are through the floor. Unless it's India or the Ashes, people don't care much. And the big money spinner would have been the one day series, but that has collapsed in popularity. Throw in the Big Bash is on 10 and killing it, and the Aus team battling for wins, and it sounds like a financial disaster.

The Ch9 deadshit commentary team will be shitting themselves.

Really? We've got an Ashes series coming up, which means a massive payday for 9.

I really hope they don't get the Big Bash, but they've got a deeper warchest than 10 so I'd say it's not unlikely to happen.

Cricket is the only game in town in Summer, and clearly this UBS poindexter has never watched Davey fucken Warner with the bit between his teeth against a firing Pommie bowling attack.

First place to cut some dead weight- trim the fat
Sacking half the commentary team could recoup most of that $40m they lose each year

@barbarian i hope you aren't serious, because that sounds like jingoistic nonsense.

Of course it's the only game in town, but that doesn't mean it is now worth the price CA are/have been asking. And i assume that's what this is all about, the price. I doubt the report said "dump it, don't bid" but more "dump it if you can't get the price down".

As i said, this summer will be golden, but the summer after? And after that?

Your last sentence the the opinion of the average Aussie cricket fan through and through "yea, we lost overseas, but wait till the boys get back to the flat, flat decks of home".
