SMarsh chips to midwicket with the lead at 31. Need a quickfire 60 from Starc and Wade to finally live up to this bullshit that he's in the team for his batting.

If Australia can scratch out a 100 run first innings lead I suspect the Indian top order will mentally shoulder arms to a straight one (again)....

Jadeja gets 6, and the lead is 87. Another really good test match. Pitch has all sorts of bombs in it.

This is going to be pulsating. There is good seam from one end and good spin from another. Starc can rough it up for Lyon, and see if we can get the same kind of penetration as before.

Still going to be a right gash to bat last on

Get Lyon and O'Keefe on now... Starc and Hazelwood (and Wade) are trying to give the lead up by lunch.

I think we're going to lose this one 🤔

Would suggest our paceman, despite not doing huge workloads, are staring to get a bit frustrated, and Pujara has found some calm amidst a difficult series.

Short of SOK and Lyon repeating some heroics, we're looking at a chase of maybe 150 at this rate, and that's going to be extremely difficult when India get their tails up.

In the balance now. If either team wins the next couple of hours convincingly it will go a long way to deciding the match.

Don't think a 150 lead will be enough for India - despite the turn Lyons is getting.

Holy fuck - Kohli given out LBW again to a call made on veddy veddy fine margins. Shee-it India is about to shoot DRS into the sun I bet.

    And..immediately Kohli gets out!

India effectively 25/3 - advantage Oz!

While Pujara is still there, India have the advantage. Bats for days, let's the wicket degrade.

Only watched a little but the way India butchered their 2 reviews in the first 10 overs of a new ball had me wondering if they know the LBW law at all!

I mean surely they're experts at it after all those years of claiming the technology wasn't good enough....or have they been playing a different game..?

Injuns push Jadeja up the order to give them a lefthander to counter the spin - but, it doesn't work. Hazlewood knocks him over and it's 35/4.

NTA still wetting his pants, 🙂 but that's a significant advantage to Oz. I reckon about 60 runs ahead of the game.

Remember all those times the BCs let you down after looking like the absolute balls? Well that's where I'm at. We lose, India come roaring back.

I just want to retain the trophy for starters.

Then beat the shit out of them 4-0 inside 15 days. Not too much to ask, right? 🙂

We will be chasing over 200 at this rate, and heading to the next test with the series level

@NTA Yeah Pujara and Rahane did very well last night. Probably have India fractionally in front now.

I reckon Oz would still be favorites to chase 200. In my mind, I have 220 as a 50-50 score and anything more rapidly goes heavily in India's favour. 250 would be very tough.

I get the impression that it's a very tough track to score runs on if you're not a specialist batsman. For India, a lot will depend on whether Pujara and Rahane can re-establish themselves and add, say, another 50 between them. Then they need another 50 out of Nair, Ashwin and the tail.

For Oz, initially a bit will depend on how much has been sapped from Lyon and Hazlewood, especially.

@Chris-B. Either Pujara or Rahane said the track was a bit easier to bat on than in the first innings because the moisture is gone.

A good Indian bowling performance will have us struggling to win chasing 200, so every wicket is vital now for Smith

Yeah - the commentators were saying that, as well. I didn't see the first innings, but apparently Lyons had the ball spitting like a cobra. He was still getting the odd one to bounce pretty alarmingly last night, but it wasn't impossible to bat. Commentators expecting it to get lower and more variable bounce as today wears on, so the sooner Oz get out on it the better, irrespective of the number of runs they need.
