Am watching on a recording. About 13 mins in. Fullback Collins grubbers into the in goal.
WHY?
WHY? WHY? WHY?
FUCKING BACKS.
WHY?
Now I'm a Chiefs supporter. But FUCKING WHY?
What a fucking waste of ball. Why the fuck would you kick good attacking ball away? ? ?
Fuck I hate stupid little kicks...
Not sure if anyone picked up on it but it made me angry.
On behalf of all forwards everywhere.
it was a poor option taken that's for sure but these little kicks you hate are the equivalent of forwards having endless dabs at the line in a pissing contest when there is a 3 man overlap out in the backs but they refuse to let the ball go.
Bullshit. At least you keep the ball and have another crack.
Poof.

20min 30s.
Lineout Chiefs.
Won by Chiefs with a non jump type throw. Ball in half back's hand and being passed. Blues put jumper into the air about 5s after tge lineout is over :).
#dumb
Yeah, I think the Blues lineout problems are more around communication than throwing as shown by this defensive situation.
Chiefs showing some clever thinking in the lineouts though using both locks as lifters etc. Just a pity that had to show that move to the rest of the comp in a game they probably didn't need to.

Another false dawn Blues boys.

@Tim by the time Super 12 started I was in the South Waikato playing for Putaturu.
Grew up in Kaeo, Pahiatua and Kaitaia. So Northlander / Wairarapan / Manawatuan / Northlander.
The only franchise area I haven't lived is Highlanders. So Fuck them.
Eden an awesome club.

@Crucial fuck off crucial, kicking the ball away in that position should be punishable by death
maybe a forward should have been up with the play to give him another option?

Those starting locks for the blues looked like little shrimps next to Retalick and Bird.
Blues totally smashed up front at set piece and breakdown. What the fuck has happened to Akira Ioane?
He was one of the most dynamic and involved players in the NPC last year. Now he stands around in the midfield waiting for someone to pass him the ball.
Why does Auckland rugby (and the Warriors) do this to promising players so consistently? (Turn them into lazy slobs)
-
The Blues seemed to rely on Luatua as their main lineout target so either Retallick or Bird could mark him and they have a huge height advantage. Without those options and variations the Blues' lineout became very predictable. Some of those 4 lineout losses were from attacking penalties too.

apparently there was a trial game just recently and the blues forwards gave the chiefs a bit of a touch up in all aspects ,
I wonder if that helped to create a false sense of security within the camp

Very unlikely, IMO. It was close right up until Luatua's brain explosion, and on target for the bench to make an impact.
The main weakness before that was our hookers poor throwing, we were sharing penalties at the scrum and halfway through the game we were well ahead in turnovers.
I was disappointed how we came out very tentative after half time, I would have hoped they would have settled down during the break, but the ten mins or so after halftime was what lost the game. The Blues looked very good for the last 30, it didn't look like we were down a man at all.
The ABs were huge off the bench, and with Parsons return on the horizon, West goalkicking very well, and the side showing some real backbone, I'm pretty confident we have a good team here.
Start Parsons (if fit), Patrick, Charlie, Kaino and Moala on the wing and Nanai at fullback and the team will be hard for anyone to beat.

I knew as soon as they announced John Kirwan as co-commentator the Blues were farked...
It was great to have two pro Blues commentators to even out the pathetic anti Blues dross that TJ spits out. Kept him honest for a change.

It's more people judging players unfairly. Because Akira is a bit niggly (no worse than Brodie) people seem to enjoy getting stuck into him.
The stats just don't bear out any accusations of laziness.
I would like to see him run onto the ball more for his hit ups, but his acceleration and strength beats so many players it's hard to argue with his approach. It gets more effective as the game wears on, so being yanked at halftime thanks to Luatua reduced his highlight reel. But look who's doing the tackling and trying for turnovers at the rucks, it's usually him or Gibson.
