Yeah - he's probably gone for 10-15 more than he should have.

Coney reckoning on the radio that he doesn't think this pitch is particularly easy. Kepler had earlier gone for a revision to 250 being competitive.

    Clever bugger that Coney

Safe to say Latham is gone and when he returns he won't be doing any wicket-keeping. Not sold on Ronchi either, might as well make Watling your number five or give Tom Blundell a go.

Scoring 17 centuries at number 4 is especially impressive, as opening obviously has the most time.

Yeah not necessarily for the Black Caps.

I just wish he would hurry up and score 25% more quickly, often he gets bogged down or out of form. Still, he's a very good player.

I guess we're not travelling well now, Hesson.

He needs to make changes for ODI 4. Latham needs to be replaced before his test form goes to custard too.

Ummm ... we beat Aus (Ok Aus B ) and split two close ones v RSA. One fuck up isn't total disaster. (Wait till we do it twice ...)

@booboo You might want to check Latham's scores during these games. I'm sure he's been outscored by extras.

@Bovidae sorry ... was referring to your first point:

"I guess we're not travelling well now,"

    Not your point about Latham.

@booboo That was a deliberate tongue in cheek comment by me using Hesson's own words as he specifically mentioned Latham in that interview. Context. 😄

We'll they've made changes - Guptill is back and Jeetan Patel is recalled. Henry released.

Hamilton is likely to be a turner again but I doubt they'll play 3 spinners. I wonder if Ronchi gets a chance again?

@Bovidae On Ronchi - have to be definitely wouldn't it?

Guptill will come in to open and I reckon they'll bring Ronchi in for Broom. One of the spinners will come in for Ferguson, as well.

Guptill, Brownlie, Williamson, Taylor, Neesham, de Grandhomme, Ronchi, Santner, Sodhi, Southee, Boult.

Aside from Guppy being rusty that's got to be an improvement given Tommy's recent form.

    @Bovidae

I think they'll have an eye on the champions trophy in England and wamt to get close to combinations for that.
Patel in English conditions is worth thinking about and one last hurrah for Ronchi as you don't want another Latham experiment (which Blundell would be) in the big money tournament - Lathams glovework was fine but that ain't so much the point

A bit disappointing that someone (Sky?!!) can't coordinate things a bit better so that the rugby and cricket get spread across the weekend rather than everything being on Saturday and nothing, well aside from Womens' cricket, is on Sunday. Too obvious?

In any case, I just turned the TV on to see whether there's going to be anything on today worth watching and saw the NZ Ladies wicket keeper pull a Greg Dyer shocker. Ball bounced six inches in front of her and she claimed the catch.

    Not good Rachel Priest!

Has ronchi scored enough runs to be brought back in?
His batting form was a just a tad less shit than Lathams

Since Ronchi scored that century against Sri Lanka (almost two years ago) he averages something like 12 in ODIs. I just don't see why he would be brought back in. You can just compare that to Watling who was dropped after three games in Australia when the whole team was shit. If Ronchi plays at all then he should be batting no higher than number eight.

@hydro11 I can't believe Hesson is saying Ronchi may bat as high as 5. I'd put him at 7 above Santner but below Neesham and CdG.

Did ronchi score a ton load of runs in domestic cricket? Which keepers are scoring runs in domestic cricket?
I know Phillips scored a lot in the t20 games..
Taylor scored a few runs in the super smash and still couldn't crack the t20 team

Sooo the ongoing situation of finding someone to partner Latham in tests, and to partners Guptil in ODIs
Somewhere in there appears to be an obvious solution on paper..

Opens in T20 but then why would you break up the finest 3-4 combination we have ever had in ODIs?
