I love how we talk about defense in the NBA, but the losing team still stuck up 114 points.

Durant with 34 points and 9 rebounds to remind the crowd why they are so pissed with him

Spurs drop a game to the fucking Knicks

IMO causing a high number of turnovers, deflections etc is good D in the NBA.

All teams, even the Nets and Philly, can have good stretches throughout a game scoring points. That's what OKC did, but the damage had been done when it was far too big a margin to get back.

The Nuggets hit an NBA regular season record 24 3-pt shots in thrashing the Warriors by 22.

OKC also got blown out by 22 pts.

All eyes on team dynamics on Monday. How the hell are KD and Russ going to occupy the same court on the same team? I think Kerr will try to play them one on one off.

    Im picking KD for MVP.

All Star Game comes and goes - New Orleans star Anthony Davis breaks the individual record for most points (52 ~ Wilt held it with 42), wins MVP and then the real news happens:

Kings send Cousins to Pelicans in 5-player trade

The Kings traded DeMarcus Cousins to the Pelicans in exchange for a package highlighted by Buddy Hield, a 2017 first-round pick and a 2017 second-rounder, the teams announced Monday.

@Sneakdefreak big move by NO. Quite risky without a sign and trade, Boogie could take his talents elsewhere pretty quick

They've got him for a steal though. Buddy Hield is a nice player but the jury is still out if he can be a real star.

Now they've got two genuine All Stars. It's worked out well for them I reckon.

@barbarian Oh yeah. Boogie is a beast so you make that trade. Plus his nickname Boogie is awesome

I think Boogie will go to Boston in the off-season. At least Boston is probably thinking that since they appeared to pull out of the race to acquire him on Sunday when they had the stronger offer.
However, if New Orleans can get something going in the playoffs (Conference Finals etc), then Boogie will stay.

Jeannie Buss pulls the Michael Corleone manoeuvre by installing Magic Johnson as President of Lakers basketball operations and firing Mitch Kupchak and her hopeless brother Jimmy. The is no guarantee that Magic is the panacea that will bring the Lakers out of the doldrums but I reckon he'll do better than Jim Buss. Now he needs to put together a group of experts underneath him, including a GM, that can make the right moves

One time agent of Kobe Bryant Rob Pelinka apparently to become GM, in a move that mirrors Golden State. Also LA traded Lou Williams, their top scorer, to Houston for Corey Brewer and a first round draft pick

As a fan of the Showtime Lakers I think the big advantage of hiring Magic is he should be able to attract quality free agents to LA. As you say, he needs experience around him in management.

Great move by the Rockets to get Lou Williams. Will take some of the pressure off Harden in the 2nd half.

Magic was talking about this a couple of weeks ago and "if" he were in charge he'd get a few new faces in.

@ACT-Crusader Great move for Houston, good long term move for LA. They will have a strong chance to get a top 3 draft pick and an unprotected 1st round pick will hopefully help with the rebuild. I wonder how far they will go with blowing the team up. Mozgoff and Diow have been good but they sucked up a lot of cap space. At the same time you want some veterans on the team, maybe ones that aren't so expensive

The strong rumour is that Bogut will sign with the Cavs after being waived by the 76ers. Deron Williams has already signed with Cleveland to provide some depth at PG. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

With 19 assists against the Nets tonight, Russell Westbrook now only needs to average 7.5 rebounds and 8.8 assists in the final 15 games to average a triple-double this season.

Jerry Krause, the polarising architect of all those great Bulls teams has died. I can't believe he is not already in the Hall of fame, it is a travesty and now it is too late for him to be able to accept the accolade

@canefan he'll have to double that for him to drag the rest of his ordinary side to wins

You mean the side that is currently 6th seed in the west, top 10 all NBA and has a .571 WR?
    They are doing pretty well.

The Thunder are doing better than I expected and I like the acquisitions they made before the trade deadline. Gibson is a solid pro and if the 2nd unit can gel a little better i.e get better shots for McDermott, they could get past the first round of the playoffs

@ACT-Crusader I just can't see them getting past the first round(likely against the Spurs or Rockets).
