Black Caps v South Africa

Napier lost the ODI and sensibly it went to Hamilton......

I wonder why Hamilton again? Surely it was an opportunity for Tauranga or somewhere else?
Only four grounds in New Zealand have lights. McLean Park, Eden Park, Westpac and Seddon Park. McLean Park is struck off for the moment so we are down to only having three grounds, really.

Nah they prefer ODIs to be played in large metropolitan cities....

Any comments on the continued non-selection of Taylor in the T20s?
I don't buy the reason that there is no place for him in the lineup because he's a better middle order option than either Munro or Bruce. And now with Guptill out, Hesson still doesn't select him. Munro, Neesham or Ronchi could have opened again.

Sounds like Taylor doesn't even know what he needs to do to make it back in. Seems to me like they're deliberately trying to phase him out, which is the kind of asshole move you'd probably expect NZC to make to one of our best players ever.

I don't know. I'm one of Rosco's biggest fans but his international T20 record doesn't demand a spot in the team. Low average (24), fairly low strike rate (120), HS of just 63. He's one of our very best ever in tests and ODIs but I'm not convinced T20 really suits Ross today - different when he first came on the scene and was a bit of a slogger, but he's reinvented himself in modern times as someone that really anchors the innings and tends to take a while to get himself set.
-
I'm not too bothered about it - except there seems to be a bit of a communication breakdown, which isn't good.
Rossco doesn't really have an outstanding T20 record and often takes a few balls to get going - in ODIs anyway.
It seems like they're trying to stack the batting with hitters to bat around Kane. We won't learn much about Bruce if he doesn't play and all of him, Munro and Anderson did quite well against the Bangles.
I guess Rossco lost his spot with an eye injury and needs to bide his time for a middle order slot to open up. He doubtless doesn't want to, because it's not a good look for the T20 leagues, where the big cash is.

Does anyone know if the cancellation to the two ODI's at Napier will affect the Rugby coffers of Hawkes Bay? Or is McLean park Council owned?
Council Owned. The mayor was saying last night they are going to spend a $1m on redoing the entire drainage and surface after the rugby season.
Will they ahve enough time to host games next year? I wouldnt think so.

Taylor hasnt performed in T20's, he has not earnt the spot back really. Especially when you lok at who he would be replacing, plus T20 is the perfect environement to introduce new players to the international arena.
As for Taylor.. I think he is mostly motivated by money in this issue. He wants to show case his talents at T20 so he can play i overseas leagues for more.

It's weird.. People talk about blooding new players..
And then we get Ronchi.. He's 36 in a couple of months..
Perfect chance for Glenn Phillips.. I prefer him because he opens the batting as well..I'd rather have Taylor over Munro

I agree with Hydro and, to a large extent, I agree with Mimic.
I don't take T20 that seriously, but I do quite like that we are number one at it.
I tend to think that Taylor would be better than Munro and that Ronchi's time is nearly up.
But, the only reason that there is much controversy over these selections for hit and giggle is that there's big bucks at stake for the players. Otherwise I'd be inclined to say that people like Taylor, Williamson and Boult shouldn't be risked in these.
