Brownlie will open, and play.
He's fashioned quite a good record last few years at List A level since being an opener. Be interested to see how he goes.
Seems like that's what's expected.
Let's hope he can pull an Elliot/Broom and make a good fist of his return.
Looks like a drizzly day in Napier - probably means we should chase if we can.
Media mainly seem to be favouring an otherwise unchanged team, but I hope they bring in CdGh for Munro. Our "fifth" bowler looks very weak otherwise.
-
So if we've lost an hour, would Hesson give consideration to changing the team for a shortened match? More emphasis on strike rate than occupation of the crease.
CdGh's hitting power might become more valuable?
Or play Matt Henry as an extra specialist bowler?
-
@Chris-B.
Or play Matt Henry as an extra specialist bowler?I really hope not.
This weather delay is frustrating. It's not actually raining and nobody seems to want to play. The out field looks O.K. but they are going to have a look in another half hour. Fucking get on with it.

They just need to start scheduling ALL Blackcaps cricket at the Mount.

But, he's the No. 7 ranked ODI bowler in the world!
Actually, Matt's OK if you open with him - don't really want him bowling at the death.
Boult is No. 1 - how did I not know that? Timmy is 26, Santner 35.
Neesh, Munro and CdGh don't make the top 100.

True enough. I just can't get the six balls he bowls out of my head.
I had my whole day based around the cricket and it decides to rain. We have a drought and there is some pathetic mist shit. It's not irony (like your wedding day isn't irony) but it is seriously annoying.

37 overs apiece.
That's a somewhat different game to a 50 over match so I'd be very inclined to include de Grandhomme if he wasn't in the mix already.
Harsh on Brownlie, but Little Kane could be pushed up to open.
Hesson strikes me as being inherently conservative, though - so I reckon we'll see whatever he had planned and I reckon that will just be Brownlie in for Guptill.

Yeah, reading McCullum's book 'Declared' he says that he was always ultra aggressive while Hess was always pretty conservative, and between them they'd find a balance.
Kane (and pretty much everyone that's ever played cricket) is more conservative than Baz so we're unlikely to make an changes to the lineup.

FFS it is still too wet in the out field. I give up. Going out to play.
Don't these lazy feckers understand that I'm trying not to do my work!
Get out there and play so that I can start drinking beer and criticizing!
-
this is some pussy fucking shit right here. Hasn't rained for 5 hours, but still no play? And the commentary on cricinfo seems to paint a picture of a group of guys who don't actually want to play either.
There was some fucking strange calls made with regards to rain in the recent Aus v Pakistan series as well. get on the field you pansies!!!
What happened to clumps of sawdust being the only thing required?

Hawkes Bay what a shithole.
I've been trying not to say that
Actually feel sorry for the groundsman. Was on screen with head in hands. Real "why today" look.
Styris reckons they should be out there - if that means anything.Another look at 5:30...Been fine for a few hours, crowd getting almost as grumpy as me.

Time to tear home, feed up the horses and setlle in with some lamb chops, beer and cricket! I do like the occasional night true-love is away!!!!
wank first though aye hooroo? then watch the cricket in your jocks.

Why don't they all just walk down to Nelson Park? The outfield looks pretty good there and its not as if there will actually be that many spectators left in a few minutes. They can use my car's headlights if they need some light later on.
Honestly what a bunch of soft cocks.

Yeah!
They're probably worried if they play on a wet ground in Napier they'll all get campylobactor!
It's not even wet enough to get a mouthful, or even just slip and get a bit of a sore knee (shouldn't say that or someone will hurt themselves - probably someone important like Kane).
Not sure if that is a reverse jinx or actual jinx...
