Brownlie probably in as a 12th man extra injury cover.
I think @Chris-B is right - CDGH comes into the team and Munro (or possibly Neesh) moves up to open.
Big blow for game two.
-
Not that I want Neesh to be moved from the middle order, but why is Munro being touted as an opener? I can't recall him ever opening for us in an ODI.
-
You either shift everyone up one and have Kane face the new ball, or you sacrifice Munro as a pinch hitter with a (admittedly small) chance of getting us away to a flier.
I lean towards Munro having a go Baz style to see if he can generate a run rate early.
-
@No-Quarter with the field up he's going to hammer a lot of balls straight at cover for no run
-
Yeah, well, he's not exactly ideal coming in anywhere from 1 - 7. Like you I'm not his biggest fan. The shot he got out to yesterday was awful.
Blundell has been opening for the Wellington and Brownlie for ND. So we've got two openers in the squad.
Will be interesting to see what Hess does.

I see that the streaker who disrupted the game has been let off (i.e. given a caution).
Why???
It's become pretty boring and annoying.
Send one fucking streaker to jail for a month and that hobby would pretty much end.
I say let it continue. There's always hope you'll get a hottie every now and again in between a procession of fat fluffybunnies and mingas.

Just go to the beach...or the internet!

Sure, but I'd prefer a woman streaker

Ross Taylor playing for Sussex again in the T20 this year -
Sussex have confirmed that Ross Taylor will re-join them as an overseas player for the 2017 NatWest T20 Blast.
Taylor, the former New Zealand captain, was by some distance the most productive Sussex batsman in the competition last year. He scored 394 runs, at an average of 56.28 and strike-rate of 133.10, with his highest score of 93 not out coming in victory over Gloucestershire at Bristol, taking just 48 deliveries and including eight sixes. Eleven men scored more runs in the competition in 2016, but none of them had as high an average or played as few games.
Despite Taylor's form, Sussex failed to progress beyond the group stages of the competition. His return, alongside the long-term signings of Stiaan van Zyl and David Wiese (both as Kolpak registrations; Wiese also had a spell at the club in 2016) and Laurie Evans, a destructive T20 batsman from Warwickshire, should strengthen them.
Taylor will be available for the entire T20 campaign which, in 2017, does not start until July.
"We are thrilled to have Ross joining us for the T20 competition," Mark Davis, the Sussex head coach, said. "He was outstanding in the competition last season and to have him back is brilliant for the club. Not only is Ross a world class player but a fantastic role model to our younger players."

Slight digression: I didn't know Smithys kid played for the All Whites
That's a good read. Easy to forget his freakish inning at number 9. I think Paddles at 8 got 80 odd? Seems like quite a decent guy although no mention of his co commentators playing tricks on him ie ticking every single item on the buffet menu one time.

Brownlie will open, and play.
He's fashioned quite a good record last few years at List A level since being an opener. Be interested to see how he goes.
Seems like that's what's expected.
Let's hope he can pull an Elliot/Broom and make a good fist of his return.
Looks like a drizzly day in Napier - probably means we should chase if we can.
Media mainly seem to be favouring an otherwise unchanged team, but I hope they bring in CdGh for Munro. Our "fifth" bowler looks very weak otherwise.
-
So if we've lost an hour, would Hesson give consideration to changing the team for a shortened match? More emphasis on strike rate than occupation of the crease.
CdGh's hitting power might become more valuable?
Or play Matt Henry as an extra specialist bowler?
-
@Chris-B.
Or play Matt Henry as an extra specialist bowler?I really hope not.
This weather delay is frustrating. It's not actually raining and nobody seems to want to play. The out field looks O.K. but they are going to have a look in another half hour. Fucking get on with it.

They just need to start scheduling ALL Blackcaps cricket at the Mount.

But, he's the No. 7 ranked ODI bowler in the world!
Actually, Matt's OK if you open with him - don't really want him bowling at the death.
Boult is No. 1 - how did I not know that? Timmy is 26, Santner 35.
Neesh, Munro and CdGh don't make the top 100.
