Hazlewood is in menacing form, and Starc and Bird are backing him up nicely.
What would you like to see if Cummins and Pattinson were available for selection too?
Though one. Probably Bird gets dropped for Pattinson as he has better control than Cummins.
Kind of disappointed we didn't get a look at Chadd Sayers ahead of Nathan Lyon.

Steve Smith has "steel" Mark Nicholas? And Khawaja learned it off him? The fluffybunny plays like it's the back yard. Scores freely and regularly, and at times looks like he could score runs with his cock.
Lets judge his steel when (if) the slump comes and he needs to find a way to grind out a score.
Langer had steel. Smith has outrageous talent.

Interesting article by Brett Geeves on the current coaching pathways in Aus cricket
ex players may not be the best choice
essentially he's saying the established method of good ex-players make good coaches is holding Aus cricket back.
I mainly post because there is a trend in NZ rugby for the same thing, and i would really hate for NZ rugby to go the way of Aus cricket.

I think NZ Rugby probably got over that kind of blind good-player-good-bloke-good-coach thing after Mitchell?
It has become a little inbred, and quite frankly I think that's due to Sutherland being in the job too long - 15 years as CEO after 3 years as GM.
Additionally, Channel 9 needs to fucking fire half their commentary team and replace them with more humble people who aren't either self-impressed piston wristed gibbons, or sycophants.

Like that article M4L.
This is on a similar note - https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/nov/23/australia-need-to-look-beyond-hardness-and-aggression-to-fix-batting-woes
Cricket is a very different beast to the winter codes, and I get that the coaching role is very different. When Lehmann came onto the scene he was lauded for his simple approach that empowered the playing group. But with such an inexperienced side I'm not sure it's the best option for the current team...

Smith dropped two catches yesterday. Wade has been shit behind the stumps, all things considered. We'd deserve to lose after not being good enough in the field, or patient enough in our second innings.
The bowling I saw last night was wasteful with all the short balls and shit.
100 runs for them at the start of play, and we're spreading the field on a fairly good track. Fuck!

LOL fucking hell we're about to lose this Test unless some serious planning gets underway. 60 runs for them, 2 wickets for us.
Highest 4th innings total at the Gabba already, will be a world record 4th innings to win!
Nah you guys still favourites, Pakis will crumble easily enough.
Getting tight tho! -

That's why I am not into this whole idea of not enforcing the follow on. It does not make sense unless you are in India or the pitch is a massive turner. Not enforcing the follow on meant that Smith had to declare at some point as well. That's another captaincy decision you have to get right.

Fucking hell. Could have crushed coal into diamonds with my sphincter there!
That was a great Test, and showed that Pakistan have real grit.
Dropping Nevill for Wade was a mistake. As Healy pointed out in commentary: Nevill got dropped because his top order weren't good enough. He wasn't exactly critical of Wade, but there was a clear stumping chance missed, and he didn't bat well at all.

Gave them an extra day's play and a night session fro Channel Nein ...
If it was only about the cricket they'd have enforced the follow on. Surely.
