Ewels is even younger than Itoje? Already missing Haskell, so lot to cover.

Both 21 I think, played together in the 2014 jwc team. Itoje always the more hyped prospect though. I wouldn't feel confident with Ewels on the bench against the Aussies with Kruis only just back from injury; hopefully Attwood isn't out for long.

So we're playing a Wallaby selection against the French Barbarians later this week. So far a bunch of fringe players and some Aussies playing French club rugby have been included. Based on the squad announced on rugby.com.au a likely side could be:

    Wallaby XV:
    1 Paddy Ryan, NSW Waratahs
    2 Nathan Charles, Clermont
    3 Tom Robertson, NSW Waratahs
    4 Sam Carter, ACT Brumbies
    5 Will Skelton, NSW Waratahs
    6 Peter Kimlin, Grenoble
    7 Jack Dempsey, NSW Waratahs
    8 Ben Mowen, Pau
    9 Nick Frisby, Queensland Reds
    10 Jono Lance, Western Force
    11 Marika Koroibete, Melbourne Rebels
    12 Izaia Perese, Queensland Reds
13 Mark Gerrard, Toyota Industries Shuttles
    14 Taqele Naiyaravoro, NSW Waratahs
    15 Andrew Kellaway, NSW Waratahs

    16 Andrew Ready, Queensland Reds
17 David Lolohea, Western Sydney Rams
    18 Sef Fa’agase, Queensland Reds
    19 TBA
    20 TBA
    21 Nic Stirzaker, Melbourne Rebels
    22 TBA
    23 TBA

Another 5 players will apparently join the squad later in the week once Cheika decides on the 24 to play in Dublin 😉

    Wallaby XV coaching staff:
    Scott Wisemantle, Montpellier assistant
    Morgan Turinui, Melbourne Rebels assistant
Justin Harrison, former Narbonne head coach
    Chris Whitaker, Montauban assistant

Aussies are really going to be out on their feet for the last test. Holy smokes, what were they thinking. England at the end of a very long year at Twickers. Seems good for short term money gain but bad for long term reputations/confidence/legacy etc.

SJ I reckon Cheika knows exactly that, and it's why he rested so many players against the Frogs.

England is something of a Grand Final for us this year, and though I worry we'll be out on our feet I think we should be OK to give it a decent shake.

The Poms are looking very polished though, we're clear underdogs.

Launchbury banned for 2 weeks, so won't play the Wallabies. Hopefully Kruis gets up to pace quickly.

    2 Nathan Charles, Clermont
    3 Tom Robertson, NSW Waratahs
    4 Sam Carter, ACT Brumbies
    5 Will Skelton, NSW Waratahs
    6 Scott Fardy, ACT Brumbies
    7 Jack Dempsey, NSW Waratahs
    8 Ben Mowen, Pau
    9 Nick Frisby, Queensland Reds
    10 Jono Lance, Western Force
    11 Andrew Kellaway, NSW Waratahs
    12 Kyle Godwin, ACT Brumbies

    14 Taqele Naiyaravoro, NSW Waratahs
    15 Luke Morahan, Western Force

    16 Andrew Ready, Queensland Reds

Why can't Cheika ever name a team without having "one to be omitted"?
Does he seriously not know his own plan or always playing silly games.
It can't always be an injury thing. No one else does it except sometimes bracketing.

That JDVF guy for Ireland deserves a start I'd have him in a AB squad going by last week. Adds some dynamics to the back row without losing strength

@Crucial Sean O'Brien isn't half bad either. Pretty positive problem to have.

Wallabies will drop either Sean Mac or Naivalu. Hope Naivalu is retained, even if Hooper and McMahon both can be thrown to the backs in an emergency, but still better to have someone else to sub than Cooper if an outside back goes down in the first half.

And then there's Dan Leavy - if he can deliver his club form on the test stage. He's been outplaying vdF and SOB at Leinster so far this season, IMHO.

Stander, O'Brien and vdF all seem quite similar players though - stocky ball carriers without a ton of arial ability or breakdown nous? Ireland can't really start all 3, so they're always going to be competing for one or two places.

EDIT: Is O'Mahony likely to come back into the picture? Looked the goods a while back and offers something a bit different.

Jono Lance finally gets a shot in gold and he's injured inside the first 10 minutes. Poor bastard.
