Black Caps v Pakistan

Having CdG there smacks of them picking an allrounder just for the sake of having an allrounder.
If they didn't want Neesham, I'd prefer they picked Henry.
BJ moved up to 6, Astle 7, Henry 8, Wagner 9, Southee 10, Boult 11.Still a decent lower order that can probably all pitch in to score any runs we miss out on by not having an allrounder.
Turns out the national cricket selectors know a bit more than me about selecting a cricket team. Well played, ill get back in my box.
Bloody pleased for both the newbies to have performed so well.
Colin was more animated than bloody Wal Footrot in that interview wasn't he? -
I know he scored some run but how did Raval look? Technically sound or is he another NZ batter with obvious issues?
-
Raval looked alright actually. Proper opener.
Good leave - including leaving based only on length, big step forward, new his scoring areas (straight drive, pull, clip).
I only watched his first hour, but only had about 3 mistakes in that time (loss of concentration to play defensively and miss a widish out swinger he should have left, thick outside edge for 4, and a closish but missing lbw non-shout)
So no obvious weaknesses exposed yet.

I know what we're missing this morning.....
CdG hasn't got the temperament to fight through this tough period, he'll be out playing a big shot soon!
BJ, so out of form it's not funny. Walking wicket.
And our tail makes Coldplay look like Don Bradman....We're screwed.
-
Pakistan review a caught behind decision, and it remains not out.
They've used both their reviews now.CdG scoring in multiples of 4 at the moment. Has given a bit of momentum to our innings sine those two early wickets.
He's still shit though, he'll be out soon for sure.
-
@mimic is this what you mean? Quote from Cricinfo
46.6
Sohail Khan to de Grandhomme, no run, ah that wasn't very wise, de Grandhomme came down the pitch a bit too early and the bowler shortened his length and seamed the ball away from the right-hander, beating the outside edge of his attempted drive

Debut boys having a pretty good day
follow the fucking script!!!!
See it was all fine, debut 100 coming up around lunchtime tomorrow.
That blur you see out the window is the mob moving into place in case Raval is out before 100.
@Virgil .............

What did I tell ya...
52.6 Sohail Khan to Southee, FOUR, and again! No top edge this time though. Southee swivels and pulls the short of a length ball wide of the fielder at fine leg. Sohail's ninth consecutive over this morning is an expensive one
.
52.5 Sohail Khan to Southee, FOUR, another short ball, and another pull shot, this time the ball flies over the keeper off the top edge for four more ... Southee isn't holding back here and New Zealand's lead is growing
.
52.2 Sohail Khan to Southee, FOUR, short of a length this time and Southee winds up and smashes it over midwicket, it nearly carries all the way. He had cleared his front foot before pulling that
.
52.1Sohail Khan to Southee, FOUR, Southee stays beside the line of the ball again, not getting behind it, and steers it wide of the slip cordon for a boundaryClassic Southee
-
Well Southee has licence now with Watling gone. 8 down.
40ish ahead
-
Bowl a team out for 133 and not putting up at least a 100 run lead borders on criminal negligence unless the pitch is an absolute minefield (which this one isn't).
Unfortunately, the backbone of our batting - Latham, Williamson, Taylor - made 16 between them.
A 40 run first innings lead is not enough. I'd back Pakistan to be better in their second innings - we will certainly need Kane and Tom to be.
-
Well the players have fucked this up, so it's down to us. We've got some pretty heavy jinxing to do today.
Unfortunately it's not a work day. Advantage Pakistan
