Daryl Gibson appointed Chief High Performance Officer

Former All Black Daryl Gibson has jumped the fence - becoming the new Chief High Performance Officer for New Zealand Cricket (NZC), effective from next month.

    pffft hahahaha what the fuck?

Daryl Gibson doesn't know anything about high performance in rugby let alone cricket.

He's a Cantab. Cantabs engrained in the old boys network.
It's not what you know it's who you know. Look at Henry Nicolls If he were't a Cantab he wouldn't be anywhere near the team.

There is a merry-go-round with the Otago coaching spot. Former Aussie international Ash Noffke has left to be Mike Hesson's assistant with Pakistan.

Frankly, this sucks. Again. We are a total minnow.

Our mens cricket season is basically done before Christmas, except for a 5 T20 tour in bloody March.

ICC events and IPL have killed our summers. I hate it. All the good players are playing overseas during the good weather, and what we are getting is a shitload of money earning T20 games that I just can't get excited about.

Our best summer months of Jan and Feb are cricket-less for the men
    16 T20I's is fucken ridiculous.

Only good point worth mentioning is we do have one of the higher number of tests in the next WTC cycle with 16 in total. Clearly 90% of which must be overseas.

    Again ?

At least we’re good at getting clean sweeps in India

Horseshit schedule, what the fuck, we obviously have no interest in actually growing the game here

'the game' is T20. Everything else is apparently an anachronism.

T20 just fades into a blancmange of bland sixes that don't mean anything. It's boring. Tests are where it's at!

Unfortunately, the schedule is designed to be preparation for the T20 WC. And money talks.

We had no home test cricket this year. That was shit. I can't believe it's going to happen again.

Do I want to sit on the grass banks of Bay Oval in the night-time of the first week in October? That's NPC time! We're playing Waikato at the domain the Saturday before!

The time is ripe for a Kerry Packer style "Supertest" rebellion - hiring all the batsmen that would rather bat like Bradman and Boycott, rather than BMac.

Fines to be issued for excessive runrates....

Rahul Dravid could get a recall......I remember falling asleep watching on the couch when he came out to bat then waking up about half an hour later and he was still on 0.......

Might be a diet of Ashes, Super Smash, and Big Bash in January. That first flurry of games v Oz might be good for Junior cricket recruitment locally.

@MN5 Hashim Amla was particularly adept at putting up the wall as well, e.g. https://www.cricket.com.au/news/3309826/amlas-record-breaking-go-slow-staves-off-defeat
