Auckland vs Tasman

We really do have some shocking players in this side that would not make any other side in the country.

lol is this team coached at all? set piece is a real shambles
White was the forwards coach, or technical coach for the Blues wasnt he, thier set peice has never been that poor??

If we miss out on the playoffs (becuse we're not gonna win in anyway) and Nick White goes, then I would say that some good has come out of this season. Hopefully Jono Hickey and Eklund can follow him.

Man, I would have been pissed if we hadn't won that game. Easily our best effort of the season.
Havili - banging that kick over from his own 10 metre line. He does some good shit, he does a lot of dumb shit, but that was impressive shit!
Without wanting to be an arse about it - Auckland didn't really turn up for that game. It was almost as if they had tickets on Ta$man. We just seemed to have vastly more enthusiasm and Auckland kept in touch from a few bad Ta$man mistakes, one or two brilliant plays, Hickey's goal-kicking, and a few friendly calls from Jackson.
How the fuck - with those huge men in the scrum - were they getting so badly embarrassed?
-
@Chris-B. We've been bad all season and our scrum has been poor for a very long time now. Two of your front rowers (Halanukonuka and Makalio) we're destroying us yet never got a look in while playing club rugby in Auckland, obviously Hames and Perry did their bit too but it really is annoying to see the rubbish front rowers we have getting destroyed by guys who we had the opportunity to sign up.
As you said, you guys wanted it a lot more than us and the margin I thought was a fair reflection of the game. Once the Ioane's are shut down we don't offer much. We're far too reliant on individual brilliance and have no idea on defence with these rules in place along with our awful set piece.

Yeah - last year, the only place we had an advantage over you was at scrum time and I think both Perry and Hames took turns at dominating your tighthead in respective games. Someone can factcheck that, but I think Hames missed the first encounter. Other than that we got thumped twice and I was expecting more of the same at Eden Park. If you'd offered me a four try bonus point and a solid loss I would have taken it.
Usually, I'm a bit reticent on offering comments about opposition teams, but you guys have a right to be pissed with your team. With at least four fringe ABs - the two Ioanes, Nanai and Luatua - your guys should have been way better than that. Tony Johnston noted at one point that the Auckland loosies were heavier than the Auckland front row and should have had a massive weight advantage at scrum time over our fairly small back five forwards.
Gotta think your coaches have to go.

Pretty effective rush defence employed by the Mako$ tonight.
Some good attack from both sides, but a poor set piece let Auckland down badly.
A solid all round game from the Mako$.
