My prediction is that Rory McIlroy will find get to have that Green Jacket around his shoulders.

I've gone Rory too. I dont usually but think the time is now

given his form, you kinda have to think, if not this year, then probably never

The problem with Rory in recent years is that the higher the expectation, the more chance that he will shoot 79 in the first round.

@KiwiPie I think the whole LIV/PGA thing has been a millstone around his neck, and with that less of a thing, hopefully it means he has been able to focus more on playing golf than the peripheral shit.

Speaking of the LIV crew, Bryson and Brooks in with a shout I reckon.

If he doesn't have a good first round it's just not going to happen for him

Joaquin Niemann of Chile and Aaron Rai of England are the early leaders on 3 Under.

Strong start by Scheffler. Scottie laying down a marker for the rest of the pack.

Some pretty good scoring so far. Rose leading at -6 thru 12.

At the other end of the field, poor Nick Dunlap (2024 rookie of the year), has s shot a 90!

A shootout over the weekend between Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Scottie Scheffler would be 🔥.

How does a top player do that? Even Langer in his final ever Masters managed a 74!

Dunlap with not a single birdie - a triple bogey, 4 double bogeys and 7 regular bogeys - just 6 pars. My golfing insight helps me predict that he won't make the weekend

What a meltdown by Rory. Misses a short putt to get to -5, then makes two doubles from the fairway on 15 and 17. Might have played himself out of it, needs to get in under par.

Certainly a good opening round! Scheffler nicely placed too. Rory with it all to do with a meltdown of a back nine finishing even.

Justin Rose hits 71 and is the club house leader on 8 under at the half way stage.

    De Chambeau -7
    Im -6
    McIlroy -5
    Scheffler -5.
    Hovland -5

All eyeing the lead. A young Dane I have never heard of before is on a charge too.
