About to watch Top Secret - blazed.
Must admit - I was never really a fan of that Leslie-Nielsen-type stuff. Verbal slapstick. Ugh.
But - willing to give it another shot for Nick Rivers' sake.- First observation - can't handle weed, already doing internet searches to confirm I've got the right word
Always love your work

I wish I could say that I always love your source of Rugby World Cup tickets, but...

- Second - lamest joke had me laugh out loud. Stamp of "Find him and kill him". This is going to be a fucking long watch. Do not legalise.
- Okay - I don't mind surf-skeeting
- And I don't mind breast-holes in the sand
- "The Daily Oppressor" - fuck... is stoned how all you people who always find this funny - constantly live/think?
-- by which I mean: didn't mind it - I'm fucking concerned with how much I'm laughing at each stupid gag. I've been intending to watch Blazing Saddles while... well... blazed - but it might be dangerous to my health.
- crushed car bit is SO dumb. And I smiled throughout.
- This is ALL so fucking dumb, and I love it.
-- Except "he's just a little hoarse" - fuck that. Too far.
What the hell ?
As I said in the RIP thread Top Secret is perhaps the most underrated comedy of all time and Val kills it.

The Order - Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheriden
Based on the true story of an FBI Agent (Law) who is hunting a white supremicist group lead by Hoult as they are trying to gather funds for a revolution.
I dont know the story to know how much literary licence has been taken, but thought it was a pretty good movie.
3.5 getaways out of 5 what is wrong with some people

Speak no Evil
Not a bad flick actually, couples with a kid each meet on holiday in Italy ( beautiful locations ) then one invites the other to come and stay for the weekend.
Things start well, get progressively more creepy then get really fucked up.
James McAvoy nails it, other supporting cast good too. A bit silly in the end but a good movie of its kind

Cool guy. Iconic role
He was great in Peacemaker playing the Dad
also did a rewatch some years ago of the X-files, he was pretty good filling in the last couple of seasons as Doggett

Batman Forever
- Stoned, coz Val would have wanted me to
- 5 minutes in - this could go very well, or very poorly. Over-the-top 1990s camp over-acting live-action cartoon while blazed... either going to enjoy this too much, or... I don't know what the other option is
- watching that cast list flash over evidence that every single one of those names is going to ham the shit out of this thing... sweet...
- 10 minutes in - shit, I'd forgotten this was actually a 90s homage to the Adam West Batman. I was hoping for Nolan-Batman-Plot with Burton-Batman-Style
- Fucking hell this is ridiculous.
- So bad
Titwatch of zero. Boo.

They are having a deal at the moment (or did a couple of days ago)
$3.99 per month for 3 months -
Cleaner
Not the Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, Eva Mendes one. Instead this has Daisy from Star Wars and Clive Owen (briefly).
Best summarised by pointing out they stole the plot from Die Hard, made no effort to develop characters thoughtfully and instead relied on laughably pathetic plot devices such as immediately available, detailed background information about our protagonist, lengthy discussions with the chief of police who clearly has nothing better to do during a terrorist situation. The villains are caricatures whose motivations are both overexplained and underdeveloped. But they're not fighting for money, this time they're motivated by love of the environment. So it's modern and complex.
And of course the reluctant hero is a 120lb special forces operative turned skyscraper window cleaner who easily fights everyone else.
Just rewatch Die Hard as you should be doing anyway.

A director with a catalogue of awesome. A great cast featuring an all-time MILF and an embodiment of the reason I learnt Spanish. And a great genre; mystery adventure!
-
yeah, i signed on the dotted line very early doors as well

Watched Chef with Jon Favreau. Nicely acted, feel good road trip film, with lots of cameos and small parts for well known actors like Sophia Vergara, Oliver Platt, Dustin Hoffman and Robert Downey Jr.
And The Old Guard, a action film from Netflix that didn't actually suck, about immortal warriors starring Charlize Theron
