The Harbour Hawks in Dunedin have announced several signings on Instagram. Players from all over the country and overseas. Can't imagine they will be cheap....

its interesting, ive been doing some recruitment for my club, there are social media groups where players and clubs can find each other...and there are a lot of people out there looking for gigs, even unpaid, we have guy thats played semi pro in france joining us, another that has a handfull of game for wasps and leister joining, at most we'll pick up their registration unofficially
Dunedin might be a less attractive destination than melbourne...but there is a talent pathway of people do thing they could play up a level
more specifically re their announcements...that font is unreadable...i cant tell you any of their names from the pictures
Top tier players they recruited.
A guy with super experience
Two Canterbury B players
A former Wellington club player of the year.
Plus some decent young players like Luca Fuller who will be apart of the Dunedin based Southland Acadamey.
The owner of Chipmunks used to dund Harbour a few years ago. Not sure who is funding it now.
Say some of these guys will be heading to Dunedin with the expectation of making Otago. Apart from Fuller.
And yeah the font is rubbish.

Hawkes Bay and Southland club competitions start today.

Round 1 of the Whangarei Premiership got underway last week (I was away, so unable to get out and watch)
No surprises in any of the results in the 1st weekend, with Waipu pulling out of the premiership we now have an uneven number, so Hora Hora had the bye in week 1.

Couple of preview pieces in the ODT. Firstly from known Club Rugby nut Paul Dwyer. One point he makes is about rumblings of the Otago Board not wanting Southland contracted players to play in the Dunedin comp. I'd be disappointed if they take a hard line on this. However, it does ned to br controlled a bit. I reckon there may be 15 to 20 Southland aligned players in the comp. A way around it could be having a Southland barbarians team based out of Dunddin. Which would also even up the number of teams. I'm all about having the Southland lads in Dunedin, as it is best for the Landers long term. Just need to ensure we have enough space for the Otago affiliated players.
Then the full ODT preview. The team to look out for is Harbour. Looks like they have recruited a full squad.

@SouthernMann , Doesnt always require a hefty cheque book to attract decent players

-
@Kiwiwomble feel free to send me a dm , apart from the time put into it , the way to find these players really isnt too hard...

What's the selling point?
Living in Ravensbourne during the winter?
Playing at an exposed harbourside field next to a soon to be defunct fert factory?
It is just fascinating seeing the number of players coming into your club. Cool for the comp you guys are doing it.
Who are the latest couple of players?
-
@SouthernMann , Cant give away all the secrets otherwise everyone would be doing it ....

Well played. I'll just assume it is the dream of players to run out at Moller Park. The most we'll fertilised ground in the country.
I do look forward to Paul Dwyer whining about Harbour all year.
Which players are the final two pieces in the puzzle?
-
@SouthernMann moller park is just the training ground and gym
PD Loves a dribble , im sure youll see the new signings on instagram seeing as your clearly a close follower!
are you a southern supporter or just a true southern man like dennis henderson -
@SouthernMann clearly cant follow the dunedin comp too closely seeing as you havent heard about watson park?

are you a southern supporter or just a true southern man like dennis hendersonI'm a Dunedin supporter. Left the city six years ago though. Still follow it reasonably closely. It is my belief you can't talk about the top level if you don't know what is coming up below it.
Yeah I know the difference between Moller and Watson. I just like to pick on Harbour supporters about Moller.
Being a Dunedin fan, I know what it is like to have a grim home ground on the coast.

Ah yes, Watson Park. The ground coated in geese shit.
