Pretty amazing for a kid who only took up running 2 years ago (his family wanted him to try lots of other sports before concentrating on running) although his running genes are pretty finely tuned
Yes, in addition to his parents his grandmother (originally from the south Island) ran for Scotland in the Commonwealth games in 1970 and won the 800m. Think I saw that in an article on stuff.
He's got a great pedigree.

Jakob Ingebrigsten's father is in court on charges of child abuse based on how he treated his kids when they were growing up.
I've heard of child actors in Hollywood seeking emancipation from their parents but never athletes suing their parents for child abuse. Makes you wonder how many professional athletes were subjected to child abuse by parents pushing them to excel. Of course there is a lot of grey area between pushing kids to succeed and abusing them, must be hard to prove in a court case.

Be great for nz to have another great middle distance runner , been a while between drinks

The difference in his technique compared to those racing for second is stark: His drive out of the blocks and his high knee lift are chalk and cheese.

There is a bit of the Usain Bolt in the way that he eats up the ground.

Very much. Long stride and efficient power generation. Looks like he's floating in the maintenance phase.

Sam Ruthe ran a PB 1500 last night running in an open men's race in OZ last night. Lachlan Kennedy beat Gout in the 200m. Kennedy played age grade rep rugby in Queensland.
Some great racing
The 1500m saw an epic effort from Cam Myers, with a bit of disdain for the pacer along the way…
The 200m was great too, took a big PB to beat GG, great for Kennedy, and will only inspire both to kick on
