Watching replay. Up to 25 minutes.
Fuck me the Irish love to have a whinge
Great to see traditions still going strong even after BOD and Sexton have retired
Either of you guys got anything to add about the game of two top tier nations playing.
Or just the above load of wank?

Sorry, I thought this was The Fern?

57 minutes done.
First 30 minutes looked like both sides had forgotten how to play Rugby. Lot of nerves, very slow play, accuracy down from what I expected from both these teams.
Suddenly things opened up in the last ten minutes of the first half, passes sticking and plays working.
Prendergast not getting the time or space he enjoyed in the previous games, and it showed with a few poor kicks and passing errors.
Dupont made a couple of weird decisions early but was just getting into a groove when he was injured.
France's backs are very fit - tackling low all game, setting up turnover opportunities through clear space or counter ruck.
Particularly noticeable were the counter rucks in the tram tracks off kick. They'd clearly identified Ireland's support on wide kicks (or the subsequent ruck) wasn't great, and loaded for that.
After that, add in some great skill across the men in blue and Ireland never looked comfortable

The injection of fresh forwards from France in the 2nd half proved to be decisive. When they got on a roll they ran over the top of the Irish forwards. The 7:1 split could have proved costly when Barassi went off, but they coped well. Bielle-Biarrey is some player.
The commentators were right about the lack of pace of the Irish backline.
Oh, it also seemed that Irish crowd are very selective when being silent for goal kicks.

POM with 2 no arm tackles so far, he'll be having an enforced rest if he keeps this up.
Yeah, they were neither a tackle or an attempted charge-down.

That was unreal!! The first half was intense and then the French just smashed them.
France's skills are so high. They all have good hands. They all tackle hard and accurately. Their lineouts are precise. Combine those microskills with the blitzkrieg type rugby they play where they just pour through and cause panic in the defence and they just overwhelmed Ireland. And their accuracy and hunger and speed on defence was something to behold.
Ireland's Achilles heel is the same as it ever was, they just don't have the pace or flair to score enough points to apply pressure to the opposition. And their depth is not great, the guy who replaced Lowe was a bit shit. Most of their bench is 40 years old.
France undisputed heavyweight champs now, the rest of us are chasing them

How the fuck did Nash's card not be upgraded as a red card?

Nah, I sort of knew it would stay yellow, just passive enough, tackled player led with his head too.
-
We've been red carded for less.
-
Great occasion too. The crowd was awesome. The 6N is so lucky geographically, and you get huge travelling support.
And I thought Gardner had a blinder. Set his stall out early about keeping the game going. Communicated really clearly.
Great test

Don't disagree, but you do hope that officials learn and get better. In isolation that's a yellow, and that's what happened. Good call.
-
How good is it to see genuine pace in a winger? Bielle-Biarrey reminds me of Doug Howlett.
-
So many of the world's best players on show in that game, and for the most part they showed it. In a losing effort Dorris, Keenan and JGP were real good.
Their direct opposites were also brilliant. The little French winger with the long name is so fucking good at everything. Boudahent is a hell of an openside. -

which is why, IMO SA being involved would detract from the comp

The sport hasnt had credibility for a long time.
Became noticeable in the 2017 Lions tour, with the 2023 RWC Final the cherry on top of a rancid shelf life expired cake.
Rassie has been doing all he can do for his team to redress the officiating balance via onfield chicanery and off field skullduggery via his Estehuizen tackle practise troll video and Lions tour video debrief.
He is holding officialdoms feet to the fire. Purists will say his conduct is ill-befitting of the game, but he will have the W's in his ledger......and thats all that matters when all is said and done.
