Hastie has really improved his overall game
He's always been a better player than Arscott in my mind. Always staggered me he was seen as behind him. Good to see that has changed.
-
thats BS .. MP player lying behind the ruck created that turnover....
-
Hopefully they kick on and put Moana to the sword in the second half
-
Glad I bought Hurley in at the last minute, toss up between him and Kyren in my FR team
-
@KiwiInLondon 💯..his organisational skills and option taking around the ruck is impressive , looks to have time
Putting on a clinic , can see why Fakatava is on the pine -

Not sure why there is all the critique of Fakatava... he was fucken awesome last week. Why can't we just celebrate having two good 9s?
All the pundits said our starting team as a bit shit. We had no depth compared to others. Seems we are proving them wrong.
This game. Second string props. Haig/Howden have been available at six. Renton (debatably out), Fakatava too, no Nareki, both our top two fullbacks unavailable.

good having two good halves.. however FF has been rocks and diamonds for years.. so a certain amount of criticism will always be around..... especially around the consistency of his option taking.

For sure. But last weekend was the best he has played since before his run of injuries

What a mover Hastie has been this season. If you'd asked me three weeks ago which halfback should be dropped at the end of the season he'd have been my pick. Now he's the one guy I think we can't loose.
Gilbert outside of being isolated that one time, has been great. Nice to see his defence has improved this season. Fantastic work from the team the back 20.
-
@frugby his high kick game is not the best and his pass is ordinary at best possibly your first 2 tick boxes to play at international level
Has some great strengths in and around his running game and jackals the odd turnover
Thats an opinion i got from a former All Black 9 , and i have got to say i agree -
@Mattasaurus He was actually really good last season too after a slow start. He has his flaws, but I expect him to have a big season in what looks to be an improving side. With front-foot ball he is a heck of a threat around the ruck.
Hastie has been good, don't get me wrong, but I've seen Mosese Dawai look a million bucks against Moana. Let's see what he can do against the Canes in two weeks time.
-
@SouthernMann it’s only Moana…..
Agree that the lack of depth arguments were being overplayed. If the Landers have so called depth issues then so do all the other NZ teams (except the Chiefs) based on what has happened early in the season.

Hastie is the only halfback contracted beyond this season. At this stage. He initially signed a three year deal from the start of last year
