Chad Smith is a fun guy and one of the best drummers of his era.
His band might not have released anything decent in the last 20 odd years but that doesn’t mean they didn’t absolutely rock in the 90s/early 2000s.
Clever guy , bit of a joker and such an awesome touch on the skins…..

that song fucking rules. i bought that CD almost as soon as it came out in NZ. amazing.

Fantastic stuff from the guys who single handedly invented the genre.
With all due respect to Ronnie James Dio who was a fantastic singer and front man Ozzy IS Sabbath ( alongside the other three OBs )
Weird to think that two different Deep Purple singers also did separate Sabbath albums.......
So heartwarming that all of them are raring to go and obviously still able to. Can't say that for any other bands of that era
-
the lineup for that gig looks fucking incredible.

ridiculously good.
I've been getting ( back ) into Alice in Chains lately. Those harmonies between Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell are amazing.
They're in STP/Soundgarden territory in terms of awesomeness now.

Ozzy is pretty fucked so I doubt he'll be moving around the stage too much. It's only Bill Ward that hasn't been in the latest version of the band.
I've only seen AIC with William DuVall, they were excellent.
Yeah, I saw them on a doco on the big screen, they were all about 70 odd, touring and sounding awesome. Ward wasn't there, some young 30 something year old was on the sticks. I heard he didn't tour because he was basically too old ? drumming is a young mans game......
I doubt he can manage anything like this nowadays, this is some of the best drumming you'll hear, so much power and class.

My brother taped the Ronnie Lane Appeal for Arms off the telly back in the mid-80s. Found it on Youtube recently.
Lots of big names played - Clapton, Winwood, Beck, Page, Wyman and Watts - among others. Lots no longer with us.
The set list is in this Wiki page (along with more detail) - I'll recommend Ray Cooper's demented bongo solo in Rita Mae (at 11.30) and Jeff Beck doing a live version of Hi Ho Silver Lining (at 1.13.00).

Wasted two mornings trying to get tickets to Villa park for Sabbath et al. Fail. Shame, as it's a hell of a line up.
In better news, I have secured tickets to Jerry Cantrell at a 2,000 capacity venue in a couple of months. Really looking forward to it, AIC an all time fave band and I really dig his new stuff.
From a bromance perspective, my wife thinks he's my style icon too. Sans the long hair of course. Only Jay Mascis can pull off long grey hair.

Just read that Rick Buckler (the Jam) passed so am listening to some of the Jams hits right now.
