lol and the North think their clubs are superior.
Yeah nah
Bristol are without their internationals, and with injuries they have about 20 absent. They are also playing a game the next day, so this was basically an academy team. Reds were full strength, even if first game of the season

It doesn't say that on the picture. No mention other than the home side being the Bristol Bears so to the casual observer it is the best team they could field on the day. Not Queensland's fault Bristol accepted a game when they knew they would be below full strength and still calling their team as the Bristol Bears and not Bristol Bear Development XV. Queensland did right by giving them an utter flogging.

Correct. But it doesn't negate my point that this game was in no way an indicator of the relative strengths of SR Vs NH club rugby. It was a stupid money making attempt, and I doubt any profit was made apart from a good confidence boost for the Reds

Reading through the team specific threads for this year's comp I get the feeling there's a lot of injuries in the squads.
Is the number normal or am I just paying more attention this year?

Also mentioned amongst the coaches that there is only a 3-week lead-in to the competition opener compared to 4 weeks in 2024. There seems to have been a lot of off-season surgeries.
The players have realised that razor doesn't give a shit about SR form, so might as well give it a miss

More and more are trying the Blackadder method of AB selection.

New law innovations for Super Rugby Pacific in 2025 include:
-
Time restrictions (conversions and penalty goals): Players will have 60 seconds to attempt conversions and penalty goals. This was previously 90 seconds for conversions.
-
Play on from not-straight lineout throws: If the non-throwing team does not lift a teammate to compete for the ball, then play shall continue. If the non-throwing team lifts a teammate to compete for the ball, a free kick is awarded to the non-throwing team. The awarding of a free kick rather than a scrum is a change to the World Rugby law trial specific to Super Rugby Pacific, to promote the flow of game.
-
Protection of 9 at ruck, maul and defensive positions at scrum:
Ruck: A player who is, or was part of the ruck may not play an opponent who is near it (within one metre), and who is attempting to play the ball away.
Maul: A player who is, or was part of the maul may not play an opponent near it (within one metre), and who is attempting to play the ball away.
Scrum: Once play in the scrum begins, the scrum half of the team not in possession takes up a position with both feet no further than the centre line of the tunnel.- Starting play in Super Point: The team who scores the first try in regular time has the choice to kick off or receive in Super Point, which was formerly known as Golden Point. This replaces the coin toss.

What night are teams named? I thought there was a day that all teams needed to be named this year??
Wondering if in future weeks I should wait until teams named before doing my picks or just carry on closing my eyes and using a pin.Is probably tomorrow at about 4 PM
