Super Rugby 2025

@Darren thought it was interesting an NRL team posted their Bronco stats the other day, but called it the 1200m shuttle run...I wonder if they didnt call it a bronco cos the Broncos or their SM person thought it was more a rugby term?

@Canes4life as I and many others have mentioned before, the accuracy and availability of stats (in and out of game) in rugby in general are shite!
I know Fantasy leagues in the US and Soccer are huge and drive the production of stats, but we know rugby has them, what is the benefit of not releasing them?
The talk is that the Official Fantasy game could be a game changer for all of this.
Despite the negativity from some quarters, I do actually think with the commission SRP is headed in the right direction.

@frugby some of us are definitely a bit cynical.....my first thought was they will claim to have accurate stats and fantasy will be a game changer....but thats as far as they'll go, claim its better...hope im wrong
Truth will lie somewhere in the middle in my view. There will be improvement but still a long way behind

I'm much more optimistic that an officially sanctioned fantasy competition will drive consistent improvement in the area of statistics and injury reporting. If every other competition is a guide the fan base will provide feedback demanding amendments that make it reflect the belief of what's a fair and honest reflection of what constitutes a good player.
Or I could be speaking out of my arse and we'll end up measuring who has the most tiktok highlights.

I got to say, (and it's just personally), the Fantasy comp etc, and stats etc don't worry me even slightly. I just watch rugby, because I love watching the game.
In saying that I am saying it good thing if it brings more interest to game from people who want those things in their sports etc. I have to admit that perhaps all sports need things like f***en music blaring out, fantasy comps, betting odds etc to attract a few more people.
I had to grudgingly admit it last couple of years at NPC games, when I sawyoung kids dancing and singing to music etc. -
For one of the Chiefs/Manawa double headers they are going to include a concert as well with some kiwi musicians. Obviously hoping to earn some extra coin that day.

Slightly off topic and looking at the lineup, being out of NZ so not fully up to date with the music scene, is Ladi 6 bigger than Holly Smith these days?

Does anyone know if classic is doing another run on the retro jerseys?
you'd think they'd have to, give the poeple what they want
-
@KiwiMurph Of course, it won’t be perfect at first, but how nice is it going to be to get relatively accurate injury reports, and some easily accessible baseline stats?
Opta had some nice stuff but that was an independent and even that was difficult to use.
