Australia v India

They're literally playing in front of nobody. Where is the crowd? Past test series when India are playing on Aussie shores the stadium is bursting at the seams.
Scheduling issue. Who'd give up a day to sit around with predictable rain breaks?

And higher than normal humidity yesterday too.

Yep, credit to India on this one, avoiding the follow on was impressive given they were 44/4.
I do question the make up of the Australian team why play Marsh if you dont bowl him? Hazelwood on last legs with ageing type of injuries, Starc also ageing some big decisions for Aus soon -

Hazelwood on last legs with ageing type of injuries,
holy shit, this! He missed the last test with a side strain - and then struglged to get past 5 overs in this test. Unfortunate, but you do wonder if he's done now.
he's 34 in Jan, Starc is 35 in Jan, Cummins is 32 in May -

pedigree.
potentially but he is there as the allrounder and clearly they should possibly be blooding some younger talent as you mention, look at the ages of half that team, especially if one of your older guys break down..(like what just happened)

think he will play IPL, but Australia have to negotiate and workout with him does he play WTF or even Ashes one last time? But must be close to being done

sorry mate, it was a long ago call by the selectors where he got picked because of the surname. @NTA will get triggered by this, and show up to tell me to eat a bag of dicks.

here we go, Sept 2018

Cam Green slander there, especially on this site considering he dismantled NZ at home earlier this year.
Following in the footsteps of the great Shane Watson.
-
Marsh was in great form with the bat last summer and before that in the Ashes, so has earned his spot that way.
Cam Green is the incumbent allrounder but the curse of back injuries has sadly struck.
The ageing team is clearly an issue, but if they keep on being competitive it's hard to move away from the lifelong mantra of the Aussie Test Team - you don't break a formula that's winning.

Ancient history.
If you want to see a great all round performance check how Mitchell Santner ( who I’ve always been a huge fan of ) has gone in his last few outings.

They've hardly been winning consistently (well not like we used to expect from them)
Im not suggesting throwing them all out by the way, but perhaps rotating 1-2 out with some younger ones, to give younger ones experience and to enhance the longevity of the ageing ones -
Yeah I get what you're saying. There's a readymade fast bowling replacement in Scott Boland, who is class. A few other decent ones in the wings, guys like Michael Neser, Nathan McAndrew.
Batting presents more of an issue. Though I read an interesting piece about how the change in Kookaburra ball has made batting harder in Australia, particularly in the top order. Ball zips around more. So comparisons to the 'glory days' where blokes averaged 50 for fun might not be valid.

Here is the catch, Boland is 35 as well and the others have not really been exposed at this level (except for Jye who is continuously broken)
think I would like to see a couple of these others so rolled through
-
For the record Im sure the depth is there in batting and bowling, it just doesnt get exposed as much

@nzzp look... (sigh) Marsh has made some good contributions of late, and Cam Green's not doing himself any favours on the injury front in terms of selecting an all rounder.
Also: eat a bag of dicks.
