Black Caps vs England Series

ffs the only time England looked comfortable was when Southee was bowling. He also undermined the spells of Henry and ORourke when bowling in tandem with them. He really was a shocking selection when you see Santner come in and make England look all at sea. Geoff Boycott was right NZ should have picked Henry, O'Rourke, Santner, Patel and Phillips and prepared turning wickets and we might have won this series.
Traditionally the Black Caps have been very poor in turning conditions, but he's right this current lot are very effective. Latham and Young are very good on the sweep which makes it difficult for spinners, and Kane and Ravindra thrive on it. We've also got enough fire power and variation in Santner, Patel, Phillips and Ravindra alongside a good seamer or two to take 20 wickets easily enough.
Is it possible to prepare decks that really turn in NZ? I don't know much about it, I know the Indian spoil is quite different though.

With the way Young is playing in this test is that the final nail in the coffin for Conway?
He needs time away, and should not rush back. If Young continues to excel I wonder if Conway could be retooled into a WK batsman

@Damo an opener scoring 42 and then 60 in his 2 digs is very good
I can't help but want to see him go on with it on a more regular basis

Conway doesn't have a NZC contract so shouldn't be an automatic selection. Young isn't an opener, and I doubt they will move Ravindra there. Still a problem to solve.

This is what should have happened in the first test but instead we dropped 8 catches in one innings

It's good but it's not seal the deal test selection stuff.
This was a golden opportunity to bat on tomorrow and get a big score. Getting out when he did has made us vulnerable to aini collapse.

And if the Black Caps have a mini collapse then Will Young's 60 will go some way to meaning NZ are still in a dominant position
I understand ideally it would be nice if Young converted but there's huge value as an opener to be scoring 40+ runs.

I call BS on anyone saying scoring 60’s not enough at the top of the order. Sure conversions nice to have at some point, but when your top order competition has struggled for runs over the last 18 months , I will take runs on the board any time

Yeah 100% percent at the moment Conway can't score 30 let alone 60 Young has been an improvement.
You always pick the more in form option which is Young atm. -

Conway should not be a test WK he has enough problems without throwing that at him. He doesn't needs potential broken fingers and concentrating for long periods behind the Wkt then come out and bat for a long period.
And he is not a test standard wk and never will be.
He just needs to work on his technical problems and come back in to the middle order where he belongs. -
Disappointing that Young has once again failed to convert and get a huge score.
But he was man of the series against India and 42 and 60 is a very good double.
Conway is all at sea and I fear he has played his last test match. I can’t see him getting back in.
There won’t be a place for him in the middle order ( although Ravindra needs to live up to the hype a bit more ) and all this wicketkeeper talk is nonsense

Form may dictate whether Conway gets back in and the middle order is where he belongs with those technical issues.
Ravindra needs to buckle down, Mitchell has been up by and down. Phillips as well is not holding down a spot for me his fielding fell off as well as his batting 6 dropped catches really suprising for Phillips.as I was saying before the first test we should have started Santner it should have been for Southee but they used this series as a farewell tour.
Weight of runs and Conway can force his way back in,but for FFS sake Devon sort out your technical problems.
