on the field the cowboys are a shit show, which I absolutely love!
but i have to give it to jerry jones off the field
even with a shit onfield record he has not only maintained the corporate value of the cowboys but increased it
$ 11 billion franchise value for cowboys at the mo, thats the most of any sports franchise in the world
he is also more involved with league business than any other owner, and the league is going gang busters as welljosh allen . . . my favorite player right now . . . of any football code . . . awesome run
and our boy taysom hill . . . had a blinder or what!

couple of guys played yesterday that sort of illustrate that regular season wins are not a QB stat.
For a few years people have tried to claim Justin Herbert isn't amazing because the Chargers invariably stink. This wrong because he's a fucking baller. Now the Chargers have a decent coach and an improving defense, the Chargers are a wildcard team, and suddenly Herbert is a good QB. Bullshit, he's always been amazing, he throws it as well as anyone in the league, absolute cannon for an arm.
Joe Burrow is having an MVP level season, and yet the Bengals are 4-7. Through those 11 games, his numbers are 3,028 yards, 27 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.
Those kind of numbers through 11 games have only been thrown up by Brady (twice), Rodgers (twice) Mahomes and Brees. On every occasion their teams finished the season no worse than 13-3. The Bengals defense stinks. -
So the Jets fired their GM this week (on a bye), not a surprise and there's been lots of speculation that he'd already been sidelined based on how the last few weeks have played out. However, now he's officially out the leaks are starting. Most are pretty typical - owner getting way too involved at way too low a level (supposedly insisting that one of the starting safeties be benched). The craziest one in that the owners son is actually the source of all this stuff. He's 17.
On the one hand, there are only 32 GM roles in the NFL and every team that has a vacancy will have issues (if they didn't they wouldn't be hiring). On the other hand, GMs almost never get a second shot, so landing in the wrong spot is a career killer. Ownership is one of the most important things that potential GMs will consider. I suspect that this all means they're going to struggle to find a decent GM and therefore there will be another decade in purgatory.
Even more insane are the rumours that Rex Ryan wants to come back to coach the Jets. Out of the league for a decade and a disaster both in his last few years at the Jets and his last HC role at the Bills. Sounds like something they'd do.

Giants released Daniel Jones. And look, they still suck.
Carolina had a crack at the Chiefs, but gave Mahomes a minute 46 to get a field goal, so you know what happened.
The Cowboys beating the Commanders you could call the surprise of the weekend. -
The Texans loss is a big one. They just looked limp and Stroud missed a few targets at crucial times late.
They will still win the division but they don't look up to Superbowl standard. The Lions on the other hand continue to look dominant, clearly the best team at the moment.
-
oh yeah, i did raise my eyebrows at that one, and i saw a couple of the Stroud misses on the gram and they were awful.
Yes they'll make playoffs but that's mainly because the AFCS sucks.Denver currently making hard work of the Raiders isn't making my day.

Raiders aren't horrible. Take a win however you can get it.
i haven't had any expectations around Denver since old man Peyton was doing just enough to let our defence win us a SB. So no, i will not take the win, i want to be good!
Not least of all because now that the Chargers have a real coach, even getting a wildcard spot out of our division is a shitfight.

Yeah I get that, I wasn't trying to be condescending. Have watched a few Raiders games, they hang in the fight well, good teams have struggled with them.
Denver look good. Nix is a genuine starter. Feel like the run game is still a bit stagnant but that can be fixed. Draw isn't easy but they are all winnable games. Good coach too, which helps... You feeling optimistic?

for the future? yes. Especially considering this was supposed to be the shit year we we just ate our cap hits from Wilson.
We know Payton can coach. We look like we have a good enough QB. Our defense has been bloody good basically since that Miami massacre last year. It's just being in our Division sucks. The fucking Chiefs are inevitable. The Chargers are rising. And the Raiders are the toughest 2-9 team around (Crosby is an absolute menace).
We are in a far better position than most teams in the league.
-
The next two games are absolute "must wins".
Then it's try to beat the Chargers, and hope the Bengals have packed everyone away for the season. And that's just to try and get a Wildcard spot!
oh, wait. it's 3 WC spots now aye? Okay then yes we should, barring a disaster, make the first week of playoffs
-
Yeah that's bizarre considering how strong that division has been in previous years.
And the AFC West looks wholly different now the Chargers and Broncos have competent coaching. If Belichik goes to the Raiders then it will get very interesting indeed.

The ‘luck’ the Chiefs have had this season…. Let’s hope it runs out before January.

they may heat up and start playing of course. Kelce has been super quiet - wonder if they are keeping him fresh for a late season run... or if he's just cooked.

they had a sweet run home, except playing the Steelers twice. Some of the Cowboys, Titans, Browns, Broncos started to play!
I think they are probably done, but ya never know. The loss to the Pats early in the season killed them.

did anyone watch the end of the Lions v Bars this morning? The last drive was meme-worthy.
Bears make an error on the punt and allow it to go to the 1 yard line. There are flags all drive long, which bailed the Bears out (the last PI was bullshit). And then at the death, down 3, in field goal range, first Williams takes a sack, there's a penalty, and then they are out of field goal range. Run a play, incomplete, they try to run another play for some ungodly reason (they had a fucking timeout) and Williams takes an age to call the snap, and then release the ball, and the clock runs dead while the ball is in the air. Just an appalling piece of game management by all involved.
