I really would like to be hearing a bit more about injuries, seems we have jumped back a few years where we see and hear next to nothing again on whats going on...
Not sold on the Robinson over Ram selection, assume Macilai & Breen are injured?
Good to see Wood getting a shot, but jeez some of these selections seem to be head scratchers...I thought Kara was struggling with an injury?
Little to no continuity in our backs, hard for these guys to form combinations that work on both attack and defence when they are being changed every week.

I second everything you've mentioned here TR.
I think they just roll the dice each week to decide who plays where in the backline selections, it's the only way to explain it.
Adding Guy Wood is a positive move, but Hyland on the wing.... come on, are they taking the piss or what???? -
@taniwharugby Is Kara playing injured? I thought Ross Wright had done enough to warrant a start, and would play Robinson at lock. would put Ram at 6. If Kara wasn't playing Ram would be my 7 and I would bring in stoaks to 6. I like Tua and Dunn but Dunn would be better at 12. Not sure how Hyland is better on the wing but it is an interesting call. Maybe the game plan is finally going to see the backs setting targets for their forwards with mid field crashes or even the blind side wingers coming in off the first five and giving a target instead of the ol skip pass. Fingers crossed. I see stoaks is not in the reserves so injured maybe? if not crazy call not to have him there. Going to be tough for the team this one.
-
from what I have heard, yep Kara is plenty well short of 100%.
I like the look of Stokes, he played in the B game v Naki last week didn't he?
This game could get ugly, very ugly, but am hopeful it will be one of those ones where we expect the worst and they perform pretty well, while still losing
-
@taniwharugby yes, Stokes was captaining the B's last week.
The report I heard was that if he took a few more kicks at goal instead of going for tries all the time, they may have won...But yes, he looks a good player. He's not the biggest fulla, so it might be a size thing as to why he hasn't played more, as we know the coaches are obsessed with bigger blokes.
-
wheres the urgency?
-
Hawkins just meanders back to the restarts?? We dont seem to have the right attitude, no agression or urgency.
Was one part of that try that was a bit dodgy...
-
I missed the start, Moulds off already??
-
gee they were trying not to award that!
-
whos on the bench then?
-
Werahiko?
We started ok. Lots of little errors on attack with scrums etc. Then we leaked points but actually I think we are in this one with wind at our backs and reduced error rate.
Will have to sort out the setting of scrums.
But we do look hopeless at lineout maul time.
-
raining and we have the wind now too?
-
@taniwharugby thats their attempt to tie up the clock into the wind, it does not look great though. the coach should just get in Ross Wrights ear and tell him to get the tight together and hunt in a pack, to much standing off trying to set into their pods, tight 5 need to get tighter on attack and defense. hyland showing what can be done when someone runs direct, bring in Dunn and he can do the same
-
yeah we had that when Fosita played on the wing, with his lack of pace and power, but did the basics well
