Alien Romulus.
Very decent overall. Some really nice bleakness in the lifestyles of the future, hopefully that doesn’t come true. Really nice touches/throwbacks to the first two movies in particular. The android character was well done and the creature at the end was pretty damn fucked up.
Possibly loses a few marks for retreading a bit TOO much at times, what I liked about Covenant is that it was on an actual planet as opposed to dark corridors of a ship….been there done that…..
3.75 obsolete androids out of 5 face huggers
Also……
do we really need yet ANOTHER heroic female who survives when no one else does ? That’s four of them in total nowSome nerds online complained about the Ash/Rook Android…..looked a tiny bit CGI at times but I thought the idea of another fucked up evil model was cool, ie we as viewers instantly knew not to trust that arsehole

@MN5 I watched it two nights ago and loved the beginning 20mins. The effects and acting were top notch but like you I felt it got formulaic.
Having said that it's still a bloody good way to spend a couple of hours and a worthy addition to the franchise.

Is that real? It doesn't look real with Hunnam above Bale in the credits.
I've heard about Mann making a prequel, but then wouldn't it have a different name than just Heat.
If true, would win a record for director remaking the same movie the most time I guess.

Excellent point. Possibly not.
Unusual for the internet really.

Interested in the ferns view on this.
The original is one of the best movies ever so I’m sceptical, then again I’m not sure they could get two better guys than Bale and Fassbender……
Will be interesting!!!
I don't know why they didn't just make another film. Lazy

Yes it would appear so.
As you were everyone, nothing to see here, sorry for bothering you

Rebel Moon
I know the original releases were panned but I quite enjoyed them. So I watched the R18 Director's Cuts of both movies. Over 6 h in total. We get to see more backstories of some of the characters and there is plenty of graphic violence. And plenty of Sofia Boutella as well.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Was this made nearly 60 years ago?
OK, the story is timeless, the writing outstanding and with Arthur C Clarke you're going to get scientific accuracy, but it's as fresh as ever. Sure, some of the tech is a bit dated but most of it it - particularly the AI computing - is still fresh and prescient.. A simply stunning and timeless film.
Five black Monoliths out of Five multi-coloured Planets

The Substance (2024)
Combination of gothic horror, David Lynch weirdness and Kubrick visuals.
Bloody great - really original, well written and with a great performance by Demi Moore. Very high on the tit-watch scale as well.
4 Branagh's Frankenstein's out of 5 David Lynch Eraserhead's

Cronenburg did it better decades ago

Cronenberg's one of my favourite directors, but I thought it had a lot more to say in general than his films

TripwireThat is a fucking amazing trailer. Nobody can complain "I feel like I've already seen the entire movie".
Well - wait - no - they can... but not because it gave anything away about the plot.
Unfortunately my local cinema states "Seeders: 0" - but it's on my list. -
