Not sure what the game looked like on TV, but I watched it live and it was poor. Very one-dimensional from both teams really. Pretty drab and not a good advert for the game. I can't see SA or the ABs being troubled by either of these sides if they carry on playing like this.

I'm not sure what the stats were, but it seemed England had the majority of possession, at least in the first half and should have done better. They have the players, it might be time for a new coach?

Different opponents (and conditions) can result in different game outcomes.

In saying that, the Boks looked pretty dire for large parts of last nights game.

    Yup true.

Game started off as a snore-fest and became a classic. Bloody well done Oz. Eddie has some serious thinking to do.

Gonna grab some popcorn and head over to social media to enjoy the reaction.

I really disagree this is a classic.

Well maybe not a classic in the sense of a great game with flowing rugby, But as an enthralling watch, particularly the second half, it was pretty damn good.

Whereas I see this as really poor rugby throughout. Yes there was heart, and if this was outer Mongolia versus Iraq, I think that's a great game. But for two supposed rugby tier 1s? Nope

I agree. As I said I watched it live and maybe it was better on TV, but live it was so poor. Two teams with very dull uninspiring gameplans. Forward hits it up in the 10/12 channel x2, switch direction, forward hits it up in the 10/12 channel then throw it wide with a decoy runner and repeat...constant box kicks and chase... Perhaps it's the rules that need changing. There seemed to be virtually no line breaks, no space and almost resembled a game of league.

Amazing to think the side that demolished the All Blacks on Saturday were the same lot as conceded 38 consecutive points to Scotland in March:

World Cups in September/October aren’t won in March.

Yeah never understood it. All Blacks would put 60 points on Scotland.

I really haven't seen much of the Boks in 2019, missed most of the rugby championship, but assumed they had a solid side with their thrashing of the Wallabies and draw with NZ. They looked good in patches vs ABs, but were very average against Wales. A solid pack who will hold their own, 9, 10, 12 looked pretty handy then nothing beyond that, The ball skills of the back 3 were dreadful, virtually every high ball that they had to contest was dropped, quick, but little power, little penetration, they just didn't look dangerous when they got the ball out wide. I expect SA to play a kicking game, but if they can't challenge for the ball without knocking it out, it's just going to hand the game to England.

De Allende went well, but the the Welsh defence was ordinary when he scored his try. He will most definitely be targeted and nullified. England will have to play really shit to lose this.

As cliched as it sounds I want the team playing the best rugby to win and that's not the Boks. The Wales/SA game was dreadful. I can't see the Boks getting within 20 points of England.

if someone is holding onto you, usually you strike down to get rid of the hand holding onto your shirt. We see this all the time at rucks.

Swinging your elbow like that, what did you think you were going to hit?

@zed Say what? You want to legalise obstruction as long as it happens behind the ball? Have you been smoking the same stuff Kafe seems to be these days?

Lets say that happened 70 metres out - would you call it a legitimate penalising?

lol no. But what DHP did was not significant enough to disallow the try.

FFS man. Enough people have quoted the Law by now. The offence has nothing to do with whether a try would be still be scored.
Yes, it happens often in games behind normal play and doesn't get penalised but if you do it just before a try you run a high risk of being spotted and pinged.
To be clear the action of scoring the try was not disallowed. Foul play prior to the try was seen and ruled on.

What about the interference on the Wallaby player (not sure of name) by ABs no 22 that allowed Savea to score. Do you agree that try should also have been disallowed? I think it should have been, however I don't think any Wallabies players spoke to Owens about it. Not sure though.

If you watched it, it was accidental. Cruden didn't stick a foot out to trip him. The player who fell down did make a protest, just like how Julian did.

I just did, paused it, Cruden has a hand on his back, a second later he goes down. Doesn't look like an accident to me.

Kafer lost his shit last night and said that Owens should never ref an international game ever again. I hope he apologizes. Kafer has always been one of the better coms on Fox but that was disgraceful.

Cheika is just an appalling character. His pathetic tantrums and conspiracy theories belong in soccer not rugby. It's a shame because this team does have potential and actually looked well coached yesterday.

I haven't been much of a fan of Liam Squire, but I have to say that he's given me a bit if a stiffy in the past few weeks.

I'm (we're?) getting a bit tired of Cheika having these dummy spits every time the ref makes a call he doesn't agree with. OK the disallowed try, you'd forgive him for losing the plot, but he does it every time something doesn't go the Wallabies way. He did it throughout the Wallabies/Eng series, very tiresome.

re Owens, great ref, he made a mistake, it didn't cost us the game. It could be argued that perhaps if the try wasn't disallowed then the shape of the game would have changed, but after we leaked 20+ points at the end, I don't really see it.

Why did you think he made a mistake? He referred what he thought was illegal play to the TMO. The TMO reviewed the footage and they found that DHP illegally obstructed Savea - which he did.

    What mistake did Owen's make?

Not sure of the rules, Savea was never going to make the tackle. If what DHP did is a legitimate offence (shepherding a player in back-play) then the rules need to change.

Disappointing decision by the ref, disallowing a try, but it becomes a moot point and irrelevant when you done by 20+ points. Perhaps a closer game you'd be justified in bringing it up. We just sound like poor losers. The booing though, pathetic, that needs to end. I'm sure the All Blacks players are cringing when they hear their supporters booing the opposition.
Those interval runs - ouch, but I reckon throw in some 400s too... ouch. Those are more sharpening up at the business end of the season distances. Endurance at the moment 800s, 400s, and even 200s. 200 are good on a track, as you can go as hard as you can over 200, then walk recovery 200 etc...
I did athletics at school/uni and found the 400m training perfect for rugby fitness. I do 400m training 3 times a week, 10 x 400m on the 1.20 with 1.30 rest. I've tried to encourage teammates to do 400m training, but it's a killer and not much fun, but it gets you very fit! As well as this I do sprint training too, but the 400S are my main conditioning sessions. Doing longer runs 5km+ are fine for all round fitness, but it's probably better to stick to sprints and 400s/800s for your fitness.
